The Young Democrats of Greater St. Louis and the St. Louis Area Young Republicans declared Sunday that they “made a political cease fire and braved the hot weather” by participating in a softball benefit to raise money for the Cool Down St. Louis charity, which helps the elderly and disabled cope with the heat.

The game was played in Lyons Park in south St. Louis.

According to the Democrats’ post-game account, “St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley lead the Dems team with sideline cheering by St. Louis City Collector of Revenue Greg F.X. Daly, St. Louis License Collector Mike McMillan, Democratic City Central Chairman Brian Wahby, Alderwoman Marlene Davis, and MO state Sen. Jeff Smith, who played with the Dems team…”

St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay couldn’t attend, but made a hefty donation, organizers said.

Is this surprising to anyone? The Republicans couldnt even get any elected officials to come out I see, maybe they were afraid of coming to St. Louis City, such a scary thought.

Actually, the only reason we fielded a team down there at all was because we were allowed to conceal and carry… BTW, it also makes it difficult to play ball when your packing, LOL!
