Anti-war activists target McCain fundraiser

Students and area residents that have organized with the social networking site Facebook say they will protest outside Sen. John McCain’s fundraiser at Hunter Farms on Tuesday.

The Facebook group, plainly named “Activists in St. Louis for Summer ‘08,” plans to be standing at the corder of Ladue Road and S. Woods Mill Road from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

“John McCain seems intent on continuing the aggressive militaristic policies of George Bush,” said Laurie Meier, coordinator of the St. Louis Chapter of CODEPINK, in a release. “We’re here to remind him that St. Louis is ready for a new direction in domestic and foreign policy.”

Some of the same folks protested McCain’s energy policy at a Loop gas station recently. They’re calling this event “Invest in People, Not the War.”

It should be noted that during a June fundraiser in downtown St. Louis for Sen. Barack Obama, a group of Republican students and residents showed up to protest. Apparently, turnabout is fair play.

And what did the republican miscreants protest; the fact that their candidate can’t win?

It was outside a hospital; I think they were upset that people might actually be able to afford healthcare.

Naw, they were protesting Obama because he requires people to actually have some qualifications for federal jobs, not just right wing political beliefs like BushMcCain!

Gee, I thought St. Louis was ready for a new economic era regionally because of new management coming to AB. Someone should have a sign tonight at the protest that displays “HEY CODEPINK, IT’S THE ECONONY STUPID!”

I agree Scott. Someone should definitely point out Cindy McCain’s role in selling out Anheuser-Busch to the highest bidder.

Perhaps the Republicans were protesting that Obama’s Marxist views make him more suited for President of North Korea than the United States. Or that his doublespeak makes him more suited for President of “1984.”

McCain supporters probably shouldn’t be talking about “doublespeak”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioy90nF2anI

Hey Scott Simon, if you have an opinion get up off your butt and DO something about it. And by the way, $600,000,000,000 (that’s 600 Billion dollars, dude) in Supplemental Funding tells me “It’s the WAR economy, Stupid”!
Go CODEPINK! Bust McCain!

I think the NObama protestors were protesting his votes on partial birth abortion.

I wonder if Eddie Roth will be joining the Code Pink protest?
