Blunt stops in Belgium to meet with InBev execs

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Already on his way overseas when the Anheuser-Busch deal was announced this week, Gov. Matt Blunt has made a detour to visit the new brewmasters. Gov. Matt BluntBlunt, taking part in a previously planned trade trip to Europe, stopped at InBev headquarters in Leuve, Belgium today to meet with company officials who will soon call the shots in Bud land.”InBev will soon be a major employer in Missouri and today I met with their executive team to discuss my desire to help them grow the company in Missouri,” Blunt said in a statement.A-B, Blunt added, “has grown and thrived in our state because of the hard work, dedication and loyalty of the men and women of Anheuser-Busch. It was a priority for me to go to Belgium and meet with InBev officials personally so I could begin to build this relationship with them and help Anheuser-Busch continue to thrive in our state.”Blunt was one of many Missouri public officials who opposed the takeover. He had asked, to no avail, state and federal regulators to intervene.

Is Blunt seeking employment with InBev maybe? He is only in office until January? How does he plan on helping InBev grow the company in Missouri?

He is still the Governor of this state for 6 months, would you rather him sit on his hands and do nothing…he is damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. I applaud the effort.

InBev is going to be busy with politicians a lot closer to home, for a while.

CHUCKtheFED,

Please explain how InBev is going to be busy with politicians for the next 6 mos. I am not saying that it ain’t so, but I certainly don’t why you are saying this.

Then explain please, how Blunt can help InBev grow in Missouri in these 6 mos.

BRUSSELS — King Albert II has rejected the resignation of Prime Minister Yves Leterme but asked three other politicians to help resolve a crisis that has prompted fears that Belgium may split on regional lines.

What a coincidence that Blunt’s trip to Europe coincides with Sen. Barack Obama’s trip in Europe, they will be a stone’s throw away from each other. Must be a exciting time to be in Europe for certain people. Is some other happening being planned that Blunt wants to be in on and part of?

LOL…
yes, I have ‘not answered’ quite a few aspects never initiated by my first comment. I skipped how Mr. ‘Mission Accomplished’ could help InBev in the six months remaining in his term… But I did clarify, that as a Corporate entity, InBev is a “Citizen” of Belgium, which is in a Quebec-ian struggle for its identity, even as Brussels holds fast as the Heart of the E.U. (I also did not say ‘Soul’ of the E.U., as a Corporate Person has no Body to incarcerate, and no Soul to redeem.)
Shall I also not answer who holds the majority of stocks of A.B., a St. Louis based ( or Missouri based… or American based) corporation?
We should start a new thread… Missourians who boycott Brazil????

I hope Mr. Blunt impressed the Belgians more than he has impressed Missouri voters. The fact that he, or any politician, came out against Inbev/A-B was just a sway with the political winds anyway. There wasn’t a thing any politician could do to change what was inevitable.

Are you saying by the statement above Blunt is not returning to America?
