Connie Johnson backs Chris Carter as successor
Though her own campaign was cut short, State Rep. Connie Johnson is still active in the political arena. 
Today, she announced a favorite in the race to succeed her: Chris Carter, the latest member of his family to seek elected office.
The endorsement should come as no surprise — Johnson and Carter share a political pedigree.
Carter, 26, is the nephew of Alderman Greg Carter and grandson of the late former State Sen. Paula J. Carter.
Before she graduated to the Senate, Paula Carter groomed Johnson to run for her old State House seat.
Now, Johnson, facing term limits, wants to give the seat back to the Carter family.
“I am passing it to someone whose entire life has encompassed politics,” Johnson said in her endorsement statement of Chris Carter. “This young man is not only socially aware and morally conscious, but politics is literally in his blood.”
