Freedom Reigns!! It’s Open Comment Time!!

We trust that all readers have/are enjoying this holiday weekend, where we celebrate all of our freedoms — including the freedom to engage in political debate and hold free and fair elections.

And this year, we’ve also been blessed by unbelievably good weather for a July 4 holiday.

That said, it’s now time here at Political Fix to grant you the freedom to post whatever you want on any political topic, person or event.

Just follow our standard rules: Keep it civil, somewhat concise, preferably topical and focused on regional or local concerns and perspectives.

Let the fireworks commence!!!

8 months! Only 8 months!! I have written time and time again about the lack of experience Jeff Harris has vs Koster. I never had any idea how little experience Harris really had until now.

Did you know that when Jeff Harris served as an Assistant Attorney General it was ONLY FOR 8 MONTHS. This is all he talks about and he only held the job for 8 months.

For heavens sake, what kind of experience does he think he got in only 8 months. Did he take any vacation days? Did he catch a cold and stay home for a couple of days? Maybe he really only has 7 and a half months of experience as an Asst AG.

I have interns in my office that have 6 months stints. Was Harris really an just an intern? That might make a little more sense.

For crying out loud, who holds a job for 8 months and then brags about how much “experience” they earned. Most people don’t even put a job on their resume if they don’t stick with it for at least a year.

I think Paris Hilton was in jail for longer then Harris worked as an Asst AG.

Why would anyone ever elect a guy to be AG that could not even put forth an honest effort when he took a job as an Assistant AG. Why would anyone elect a guy that had such little interest in the AG’s office that he quit inside of a year of being hired. Harris accuses everyone else of being political opportunist and using this election as a stepping stone to the governor’s mansion. What did he do? Serving ONLY 8 MONTHS!! Was Harris padding his resume?

Harris’ slogan is “Real Democrat, Real Experience”. Real experience, my foot. I bet 99% of the people working currently as an Asst AG have more experience then Harris.

I must admit that when I have blogged in the past about Harris’ lack of experience, I had no idea he held the Asst AG job for such a short amount of time. Talk about exaggerating his experience. I thought when I would say “Koster has 10 times the experience of Harris”, I was using poetic license and that I was exaggerating a bit. Little did I realize that Koster really has 15 times the experience of Harris.

Think about it, Harris started his job. It probably took him 2 or 3 months to get to know everyone, figure out where the bathroom was and get worked into the equation. After that, he worked, at most, for 2 or 3 months before starting to think about quiting. He barely started, and he quit (we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he did not get pushed out). For God sake, isn’t it kinda normal to call somebody “the new guy” until they have been there at least a year? Harris was still “the new guy” when he quit And now he wants people to believe that in this short 8 MONTH stint he somehow generated some huge amount of experience….please.

Does Harris have any other experience we should know about now that the whole Asst AG thing is kinda not all that impressive.

Sorry Jeff, experience is not something you can not just say you have. You actually have to work at it. And just a little more advice, it typically takes more then 8 months to gain truly valuable experience (i.e. knowing more then just where the bathroom is)

I think we can now say without a doubt that the Illinois Smoking Ban saves lives. This week, serial/spree killer Sheley was apprehended without further loss of life because he had to go outside of a bar to enjoy a cigarette.

We should use this as an example for a St Louis City and/or County ban, perhaps even a Missouri-statewide ban on smoking in all buildings open to the public.

Happy Sunday, Bill H!

Okay, I have to admit now to being thoroughly confused about Sen. Obama and Democrat politics. Quoting Jo from this morning’s piece on Obama’s w/e appearance here, “Obama said his faith would continue to influenec his performance and his politics if he wins the White House.”

First, isn’t his base the same group that went nuts when President Bush was so outspoken about his faith and the role it would play in his presidency?

Second, although he said wonderful things that I certainly can’t disagree with, aren’t most black faiths against abortion and gay marriage? How exactly do these two groups, the black faithful and the left-wingers, co-exist? Sometimes I see such a difference of opinion. And is it true that Obama NOW believes that the mental health of a woman is not a reason for an abortion.

This scorecard is getting harder and harder to keep. Also, here are two stories not to be found in the PD today:

suzyjax, a happy incident like that does indeed argue for a smoking ban. But the evidence in this new book, “Hyping Health Risks: Environmental Hazards in Daily Life and the Science of Epidemiology”, by Geoffry Kabat, argues in the other direction. It is still only available in hardcover, but I am thinking of spending the money anyway to send it round to St. Louis Board of Aldermen and the St. Louis County Council in order to make a smoking ban here less likely.

Koster is going to win the AG’s race because he has the most experience to do the job. 10 Years as prosecutor plus 4 years as State Senator. Koster is the ONLY person in the race that has spent his entire career as a public servant. The attached link will give you a look at Koster’s TV ad which will begin to air tomorrow…that’s right Jeff, not on the internet…on real life television.

Very funny suzy…but we could get the same effects with less health risks by withholding bathrooms from the suspects!!!! Could lead to a little more entertainment for the officers too and a chance to humiliate them like they did their victims. LMAOROTF

A friend was in for the weekend that works on Capitol Hill. I asked him if he knew Obama or had met him or at least seen him. He said nope. He is never there and never has been. He said that he has never attended committee meetings and only comes in to vote at a specified time and then leaves and won’t talk to anyone, especially lobbyists. Sounds to be like the only thing he has done in the Senate is run for POTUS.

Here is a funny quote from Ann Coulter you all might enjoy :)

“I guess we’re beginning to see the problem of basing a political platform on the passing fancies of “centrists.” These are people who have no opinions because they know nothing about national issues. They’re the ones who check the “not sure/no opinion” box on polls regarding the legalization of cannibalism.” (Ann Coulter)

That might be the only Ann Coulter quote I’ve ever read where I didn’t immediately have to scout out the nearest trash can for my inevitable vomiting.

Centrist - Nice quote from Ann Coulter. Only problem is, the context was a criticism of McCain for voting against drilling in ANWR.

First let me say I have Never voted Republican. So if Koster wins the Dem primary(I certainly hope not)I’ll vote Gibbons in November. If I’m going to get a Republican I might as well vote Republican!
