Koster gets big endorsement

My colleague Jo Mannies noted this last night – but at two events today Chris Koster rolled out a number of area endorsements, including the nod of a heavy hitter, U.S. Rep. Lacy Clay.

(I was fulfilling my civic obligations responding to a jury duty call and thus could not be at the press conferences in Pine Lawn and St. Louis City.)

In a release from Koster’s campaign, Clay offered this: “Chris Koster is the most prepared Democrat to effectively partner with local law enforcement to keep the streets of our communities safe and to stand up to corporate interests on behalf of the people of St. Louis and the entire state of Missouri as our next Attorney General.”

Koster’s campaign also touted formal announcements of support today from State Senator Tim Green, State Senator Jeff Smith, St. Louis City Democratic Chairman Brian Wahby, and former St. Louis Mayor Freeman Bosley, Jr.

All appear to be pretty big grabs for Koster as he tries to make himself known here in the St. Louis area.

I thought Koster already announced the endorsements from Smith and Green - the only elected Democrats supporting him from Jeff City.

Koster did already have Smith and Green. He just keeps re-releasing the same endorsements he’s already had to try and make it look like he’s got more support. He’s done it with prosecutors. If you look at his labor endorsement list, he lists the statewides and then lists each local union to make his list look longer. Very lame.

As for Clay, it’s nice that he’s focusing on the prosecutor angle. Does he have an opinion on Koster’s photo ID and Medicaid votes? I’m sure his constituents are scratching their heads as to why Lacy Clay would support a guy who wanted to prevent some of them from voting. When you’re done with Jury duty, Adam, you might want to give ol’ Lacy a call and ask him about that.

Sorry to say Adam, but since when is Lacy Clay a heavy hitter? What important Congressional Committees does he sit on? When was the last time he appeared on Meet the Press, Face the Nation or other talking head show? Since when has he offered a piece of ground-breaking legislation?

I know, how about NEVER! His only claim to fame is his father’s legacy and a Congressional Dist. designed to give a Dem a guaranteed seat for life!

Harris is back to his same old attack message, all Koster, all the time. Maybe nobody told him when the Republicans tried to block Koster’s efforts on workers rights, child day care and stem cell research, Koster did all he could and quit the party. Koster moved to the Democrats where he could continue to fight for all these issues.

Sorry Jeff that this disrupted your plans. We should have expected this considering you have such a little amount of experience. Only 8 months! Only 8 months!! I have written time and time again about the lack of experience Jeff Harris has vs Koster. I never had any idea how little experience Harris really had until now.

Did you know that when Jeff Harris served as an Assistant Attorney General it was ONLY FOR 8 MONTHS. This is all he talks about and he only held the job for 8 months.

For heavens sake, what kind of experience does he think he got in only 8 months. Did he take any vacation days? Did he catch a cold and stay home for a couple of days? Maybe he really only has 7 and a half months of experience as an Asst AG.

I have interns in my office that have 6 months stints. Was Harris really an just an intern? That might make a little more sense.

For crying out loud, who holds a job for 8 months and then brags about how much “experience” they earned. Most people don’t even put a job on their resume if they don’t stick with it for at least a year.

I think Paris Hilton was in jail for longer then Harris worked as an Asst AG.

Why would anyone ever elect a guy to be AG that could not even put forth an honest effort when he took a job as an Assistant AG. Why would anyone elect a guy that had such little interest in the AG’s office that he quit inside of a year of being hired. Harris accuses everyone else of being political opportunist and using this election as a stepping stone to the governor’s mansion. What did he do? Serving ONLY 8 MONTHS!! Was Harris padding his resume?

Harris’ slogan is “Real Democrat, Real Experience”. Real experience, my foot. I bet 99% of the people working currently as an Asst AG have more experience then Harris.

I must admit that when I have blogged in the past about Harris’ lack of experience, I had no idea he held the Asst AG job for such a short amount of time. Talk about exaggerating his experience. I thought when I would say “Koster has 10 times the experience of Harris”, I was using poetic license and that I was exaggerating a bit. Little did I realize that Koster really has 15 times the experience of Harris.

Think about it, Harris started his job. It probably took him 2 or 3 months to get to know everyone, figure out where the bathroom was and get worked into the equation. After that, he worked, at most, for 2 or 3 months before starting to think about quiting. He barely started, and he quit (we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he did not get pushed out). For God sake, isn’t it kinda normal to call somebody “the new guy” until they have been there at least a year? Harris was still “the new guy” when he quit And now he wants people to believe that in this short 8 MONTH stint he somehow generated some huge amount of experience….please.

Does Harris have any other experience we should know about now that the whole Asst AG thing is kinda not all that impressive.

Sorry Jeff, experience is not something you can not just say you have. You actually have to work at it. And just a little more advice, it typically takes more then 8 months to gain truly valuable experience (i.e. knowing more then just where the bathroom is)

Honestly, Honesty, how can you not understand that, in spite of the accuracy of everything you stated, Clay is still the single most important endorsement for St Louis area African American voters. That’s a very significant voting bloc in a Democratic primary.

For the record, the Harris ad mentions Chris Koster by name 6 times and Jeff Harris 1 time. Not really the positive, confident campaign one would expect. Typical Harris, no substance, all attack.

In case you were wondering, the Koster ad…it does not mention Harris once.

Common on Koster employees. You keep making the same identical posts in every blog across the state for every story that mentions Koster. It would be nice to see some originality. However, the content of the post are a little funny. You attack Harris for being too negative, yet even though this post is about a positive post for Koster, and doesn’t mention Harris, all you do is attack Harris.

It is disgraceful that Green and Smith aren’t supporting local candidate Margaret Donnelly. It is really disappointingly she is not more well known in this campaign, she is probably the best one running.

Clay is such a hipocrit. With Koster the imposter’s pq of the voter id bill Clay should be far, far away from this guy. Oh… it’s the money. I forgot. Sorry! Clay would sell his soul. Oh… he has.

How disappointing on several fronts. Good Democrats endorsing an imposter for AG. My!
