Nixon to get FOP nod

Word is that tomorrow Jay Nixon will formally accept the backing of the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police at events in Columbia and Springfield.

The endorsement is particularly interesting given that the police officers’ organization endorsed Matt Blunt in 2004.

Adam, you are confusing the FOP with the SL Police Officers Assn. They are rival organizations. What does the SLPOA’s 2004 endorsement of Blunt have to do with the FOP’s 2008 endorsement?

I don’t think so Oracle. I think he has gotten the endorsements of both. FOP is a big one, they often go Republican. Congrats Governor Nixon.

Oracle is wrong as usual. The SLPOA is Lodge #68 of the Missouri FOP. At this time, Kevin Ahlbrand is the president of both organizations. In the past they have endorsed separate candidates and both organizations have endorsed Republican candidates. But this year their endorsements have a lot to do with each other.

This endorsement of Nixon has nothing to do with Blunt using state police to guard him while he made “special” visits in St. Louis to see “a friend.” I mean, spend more time with his family.

AJH,

If you even had an ounce of brain matter in that cranium, you would know that the state police go everywhere with whomever occupies the office of Governor in the state of Missouri…and to even imply that there was anything amiss with any of his visits to St. Louis are just inaccurate and malicious, and people like you are the main reason elective office is no longer appealing to most.
