Obama campaign frames Wednesday’s Mo trip
The Missouri campaign of Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, laid out his vision for Wednesday’s day-long trip through the state, in response to the GOP attacks.
“Barack Obama is coming to Missouri to spend the day talking with voters about the economy. He will be going to communities that have been particularly hard hit by Bush’s failed economic policies. Obama will be talking with Missourians about how he is for the middle class with a plan to cut taxes, offer affordable healthcare to all and provide a long-term solution for America’s energy independence.
“It’s time for a President who is focused on making things add up at the kitchen table and not just in the boardroom.
“People in Missouri want a change from the failed policies of the past. We can’t afford four more years of the same failed Bush policies that John McCain is offering, and for 26 years in Washington McCain has failed to change the status quo. Missourians have had enough of losing jobs, unaffordable healthcare and high gas prices.”

Obama will “cut taxes, offer affordable healthcare to all and provide a long-term solution for America’s energy independence?” Wow, there’s a good one. If McCain had spewed out a string of lies like this, we’d have been reading an 800 word blog post on Republican deception and misrepresentation, dissecting every word. See, for example, today’s piece on The Platform which does just that to Matt Blunt. But when Obama does it, you report it verbatim and without comment, except to say that it comes “in response to the GOP attacks.” Truly shameful.
Where are the lies Nick? These are his proposals, what he hopes to accomplish. Is it a lie when when McCain says he wants to balance the budget by cutting earmarks (even when he won’t say which ones), or when McCain says payroll tax increases are not off the table and then his campaign spokesman says they are. We get it, all media with the exception of those owned by an Australian billionaire or a Korean reverand are biased, would you prefer that the Post use the talking points from the neo- cons like Fox News does?
