Rams new Rush strategy: Limbaugh as an owner?

How’s this for a potent air attack: Rush Limbaugh has expressed interest in owning a piece of the St. Louis Rams. Rush Limbaugh

Talk of a potential buyer for the Rams has been circulating since the previous majority owner, Georgia Frontiere, died earlier this year.

Last week, Limbaugh told the St. Louis Business Journal that, if the right situation arose, he might consider joining the team’s ownership.

“The Rams would be a great team to have,” Limbaugh told the Business Journal. “I have a lot of friends in ownership in the NFL, and my desire to get involved has not been a secret.”

Limbaugh was born in Cape Girardeau and has a cousin, Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr., who will soon assume the federal court bench in downtown St. Louis. (Stephen Limbaugh will ostensibly replace his father, Stephen N. Limbaugh Sr., the veteran jurist whose last case was earlier this month.)

According to the Business Journal, however, the conservative radio commentator says his local ties would not be a factor in pursuing the Rams.

“This is a business decision,” Limbaugh said.

As the Business Journal points out, Limbaugh’s radio career has made him a wealthy man, though it’s unlikely that he could, on his own,  take control of the Rams.

More likely, he would acquire a minority stake, or be part of a larger conglomerate that purchases the team.

Even so, Limaugh’s last foray into football was not a success.  During the 2003 NFL season, Limbaugh was tapped to be a commentator on ESPN’s popular Sunday-morning Countdown show.

But he resigned after controversial comments suggesting that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was getting an easier time from the media because he is African-American.

rush as an owner?
I thought we wanted to keep the team here.
put on new locks for the training room and count the pain killers…
rush may have found a new supplier.

If Rush Limbaugh becomes owner of the Rams, I have just one thing to say: Go Chiefs!

Rush would do better with the Dallas Cowboys — after all they share so many things — drug suppliers, ex-wives, inability to keep their mouths shut.

I don’t know if it is good to have a known drug addict fronting a sports team. Especially since he lies constantly and has emotional issues from a dysfunctional childhood that haven’t been healed. I mean we already have drunken red birds all over the place.

As Jim Thomas of the P-D said the other day on the radio, if Rush buys the team does that mean the Rams will run all their plays to the right?

If he becomes an owner, I would like to see a statue of Rush outside the Dome…Mouth open, belly over buckle, small Carribean children at his feet, and a handful of prescription drugs being tossed to faithful patrons.

I see Mike has already forgotten about Brett Favre’s addiction to painkillers.

It’s so nice of Jake to supply you whackos with your daily fix. What would you do in life if you couldn’t beech and moan. Jake should at least get a dealers cut on the supply. He never seems to be without the “chosen drug” of Garrison, Llbean, et al.
