Rams new Rush strategy: Limbaugh as an owner?
How’s this for a potent air attack: Rush Limbaugh has expressed interest in owning a piece of the St. Louis Rams.
Talk of a potential buyer for the Rams has been circulating since the previous majority owner, Georgia Frontiere, died earlier this year.
Last week, Limbaugh told the St. Louis Business Journal that, if the right situation arose, he might consider joining the team’s ownership.
“The Rams would be a great team to have,” Limbaugh told the Business Journal. “I have a lot of friends in ownership in the NFL, and my desire to get involved has not been a secret.”
Limbaugh was born in Cape Girardeau and has a cousin, Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr., who will soon assume the federal court bench in downtown St. Louis. (Stephen Limbaugh will ostensibly replace his father, Stephen N. Limbaugh Sr., the veteran jurist whose last case was earlier this month.)
According to the Business Journal, however, the conservative radio commentator says his local ties would not be a factor in pursuing the Rams.
“This is a business decision,” Limbaugh said.
As the Business Journal points out, Limbaugh’s radio career has made him a wealthy man, though it’s unlikely that he could, on his own, take control of the Rams.
More likely, he would acquire a minority stake, or be part of a larger conglomerate that purchases the team.
Even so, Limaugh’s last foray into football was not a success. During the 2003 NFL season, Limbaugh was tapped to be a commentator on ESPN’s popular Sunday-morning Countdown show.
But he resigned after controversial comments suggesting that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was getting an easier time from the media because he is African-American.

I honestly have heard a grand total of about 2 hours of Rush’s radio program in the last 10 years. The fact that you idiots hate him so much might encourage me to listen to him more.
Yeah, if Rush becomes the owner I think the Rams would join the Pack and the Cowboys as my least favorite teams.
