Democrat Joan Barry led all St. Louis-area Senate candidates with an impressive $105,000 raised this quarter. Barry brought her cash on hand up to more than $200,000 in her race with Republican state Rep. Jim Lembke to replace Sen. Harry Kennedy in District 1. Lembke raised $29,000 this quarter and has $120,000 cash on hand.

Republican Senate candidate Gina Loudon brought in $95,000 in her attempt to replace her husband, John Loudon, as senator in the 7th District. And while that number more than doubled Republican state Rep. Jane Cunningham’s take, Cunningham has a big advantage in cash on hand, with $250,000 to $135,000. Figures for Rep. Neal St. Onge, who is also competing in the Republican primary, weren’t available at press time.

In the 5th District Senate race, state Rep. Rodney Hubbard continued his strong fund-raising performance, bringing in about $34,000 to double the take of state Rep. Robin Wright-Jones.

Republican Eric Schmitt leads in fundraising in the 15th District, raising about $60,000 and showing more than $150,000 cash on hand. Democrats Steve Eagleton and James Trout each raised about $13,000 this quarter.

This is simple math folks: Gina 135,000; St. Onge 165; Cunningham 254. The fact is Cunningham’s campaign has outworked and outfundraised Gina Rodham, and Neal’s campaigns from beginning to end.

I’m sincerely dissapointed to see Mrs. Loudon putting her yard signs up without asking homeowners first. Mrs. Loudon incorrectly assumes that we support her because we supported her husband 4 or 14 years ago. It’s a shame she believes homeowners are stupid enough to fall for her bait and switch.

I am a Democrat, but am considering voting in the republican primary for the privilege to vote against Jane Cunningham. Her pro-life views are scary. The religious right is so powerful, that the Department of Health and Human Services Monday released a proposal that allows any federal grant recipient to obstruct a woman’s access to contraception. In order to do this, the Department is attempting to redefine many forms of contraception as abortion (including the pill, the patch, the shot, the ring, the IUD, and emergency contraception). This could set a legal precedent that will be used as a basis for banning contraception along with abortion. I suspect that Cunningham would cheer if that happened.

I have been a longtime supporter of the Loudons and it looks like I am not alone. She knocked on my door AND sent me a polite letter asking me to send in a postcard POSTAGE PAID if I did not want a sign. Hardly bait and switch.

Thats fantastic that she sends a postcard notifying homeowners that she assumes they are supporters as opposed to actually speaking with them. This is pathetic, she sure didn’t go to anyone in my neighborhood’s door.

Bait and Switch. Sounds like the bait and switch is you feigning to be a casual observer of the process when you bash the Loudons early and late.

Should be no surprise Gina Rodham Loudon raised so much money — she can work off her husband’s donor list. At least the other two candidates are standing on their own.

As far as I can tell, Gina Loudon shares Jane Cunningham’s wingnuttery traits. I’m voting for St. Onge. He seems like a moderate who wouldn’t care if people use birth control or not.

Citing his attack on the state’s judiciary and values out of touch with Missourians, the Committee to Stop Lembke was created to oppose the election of Jim Lembke to the State Senate. Rep. Jim Lembke has proposed eliminating the Missouri Nonpartisan Court Plan, which has protected Missouri courts for nearly seven decades by requiring the selection of judges based on merit rather than on political affiliation. Clearly Gina is fast overtaking Jane Cunningham’s pace. Jane has literally had *years* to raise the pile of money she is sitting on. Gina started raising her’s in March. I’m impressed. She’s raised a total of about $200,000 in a few short months.
And Neil St. Onge is totally left in the dust with his fundraising.

Gina was first up on TV and on radio.
Her signs are everywhere.

I personally haven’t heard of any disgruntled people who had signs just stuck in their yard without permission. And I have a lot of friends in that district. What I’m hearing is that Gina is running a positive campaign about herself and working harder than anybody else.

For a 0-60 campaign, this one is moving fast, and I think she will finish in front!
