Simckes to appear with author Dyson today
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Andria Simckes, one of four Democrats seeking the nomination for state treasurer, will appear with edgy civil rights author Michael Eric Dyson at an event in Grand Center today.
Dyson — who proudly wears the label of “hip-hop intellectual” — has a new book out, “April 4, 1968,” which probes the cultural impact of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assination.
According to the campaign, Dyson was a mentor to Simckes when he was a professor at Brown University and she a student at the school.
The pair will appear together at Reggie’s Backstage, across the street from the Fox Theatre.
