State Sen. Jeff Smith is leading a drive for back-to-school supplies, and is offering a reward fit for a political junkie: The entire HBO John Adams mini-series on DVD to the person who donates the most supplies. (UPDATE: It’s Smith’s drive, but the Young Dems are offering the prize to help out.)John Adams on HBO

Smith is seeking ten of each of the following items:

  • pens
  • notebooks
  • markers
  • folders
  • pencils
  • erasers
  • rulers
  • calculators
  • glue
  • crayons
  • colored pencils

The drop-off point is at 2000 S. 39th Street, which is between Shaw and Russell near Tower Grove Park. Contact the Young Dems to make a donation. The deadline is July 17, two days before Smith’s annual 3-on-3 hoops tournament in Fairground Park
