Summer special: Bosley rival hosts “white linen” fundraiser

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

For those who feel Labor Day is coming up oh too quickly, Third Ward aldermanic hopeful Jeffery Hardin has a fundraiser custom fit for summer. Jeffery Hardin

Hardin — The Thorn in Freeman Bosley Sr.’s Side — is hosting an “all white linen party” fundraiser tomorrow night at the Thaxton Building downtown.

Why white linen?

“Cause it’s hot!”replies Hardin, a statement that could apply both to the weather and political climate in the ward.

Bosley, first elected in 1977, barely survived an insurgent run from Hardin in 2005, which would have been as major upset as there is in ward politics.

Now, Hardin is challenging the veteran incumbent again, starting his bid for the March 2009 primary early — white linen and all.

The city should take the first opportunity to change the city’s charter and reduce the number of aldermen. There are way too many.
