Zweifel first — and only? — treasurer candidate with TV spot
As party rival Andria Simckes hits the radio waves, Clint Zweifel — seeking the Democratic nomination for state treasurer — has a television spot set to debut this weekend.
The ad registers high on the no-surprise scale: It positions the Florissant state rep. as the political opposite of Republican Gov. Matt Blunt.
“We don’t agree on anything,” Zweifel says, pointing to what looks like a cardboard cut-out of the governor. “I’m running for treasurer to fix the things that Matt Blunt’s broken.”
Expect this to be the only television commercial in the treasurer’s race, at least in the primary. Simckes has said she is sticking to the radio dial, while Arnold Mayor Mark Powell and former Kansas City mayor Charlie Wheeler lack the cash for a media blitz.

Powell bought $10,000 worth of rural radio.
