Barack Obama — live from Kansas City? Or St. Louis?

Barack Obama is not in Denver tonight, but he did show-up on a monitor in the convention hall that indicated he was appearing live from Kansas City.

Too bad nobody reminded the candidate.

In a Show-Me slip that he may have to make up for on his next visit here, Obama told the convention audience he was with a family in St. Louis.

Oops.

But either somebody whispered in the ear of one of his children on stage, or that youngster was born to be a media consultant, because one of Obama’s two daughters gave the nominee a chance to recast his bearings.

“Daddy, what city are you in?” she asked.

“I’m in Kansas City,” he replied.

It’s a good thing for the Democrats, because that’s where Obama is scheduled to hold a rally tomorrow.

Yep, it was one of those nothing goof-ups.

It was a nothing goof up to the liberal media. McCain can forget how many houses he has. But GOD FORBID ANYONE CRITICIZING OBAMANATION!

McCain’s camp has every opportunity to use this clip in an ad:

“Question the direction of a man who doesn’t know what city he’s in!”

Obama looked like an idiot, not knowing where he was at.

The city and the names of the Family members was attached to a cue card on the camera he was speaking into. I am highly disappointed in Obama!

I’m definitely voting for McCain now.

Even I know Kansas City is not St. Louis and there are 50 only states.

Come on, Scott Simon, these guys visit hundreds of cities during a campaign and it is fast and furious. It all blends together at some point. I know how many houses I have. Do you know how many you have? I suspect you do. I have one. If I had two, I’d know that. If I had three, or four or seven, I’d know. It must be nice to have so much of something that you don’t even have to keep track. I know it says something about relating to middle-America. We’re talking apples and oranges here. It is absurd to blame the “liberal media” for not getting on Obama for a tiny slip like that.

scott simon,

Really. That’s how you see it? McCain shows how out of touch he is with the average American by not knowing how much property/houses he owns. That is hardly equal to a slight goof up of a much-travelled person who forgets what city it is. In fact, this is a common joke among those who travel much (e.g. If it is Tuesday it must be Pittsburgh).

Only little people such as yourself and those in charge of McCain’s ads would try to make hay of this–but the last laugh will be on us as the populace will immediately see such ads as petty and non-productive.

Can’t tell the difference between St. Louis and KC? Next thing you know, he’ll say Mizzou’s the home of the Jayhawks!

I knew the sprawl here was getting out of hand but I never thought it reached Kansas City already.

In all seriousness though this is nothing and it not the same as McCain and his whole “how many houses does he own” fiasco. This does not mean Obama is out of touch with Missourians and is elitist unlike not remembering how many houses McCain owns. So quit it with the comparison.
