Blunt, Talent weigh-in on Biden pick

Though we’re not sure there is a Democrat this side of Joe Lieberman that Republicans would have praised as a No. 2 for Barack Obama, here is what former U.S. Sen. Jim Talent and Gov. Matt Blunt had to say today about Joe Biden joining the ticket.

Blunt:

For a campaign built around aspirational rhetoric, this is an uninspiring decision. The selection of Joe Biden emphasizes Barak Obama’s lack of experience and undermines the chance of any real change in our nation’s capitol. Barack Obama is trying to compensate for an area of weakness that even prompted criticism from his new running-mate.

Talent:

I was surprised by Senator Obama’s choice of Senator Joe Biden.  It demonstrates that the Obama campaign realizes that Senator Obama doesn’t have the foreign policy credentials or experience to be president.  There’s no other reason besides that to add Senator Biden to the ticket.  Joe Biden undermines the message of change, and otherwise adds nothing to the Democratic ticket.  He’s a left liberal blue state Democrat with no executive experience – just like Senator Obama himself.  The decision gives further reason to wonder whether Senator Obama has the judgment we need in a president.

Wow, a Senate loser and a guy with approval ratings so low he’s scared to run think it was a bad pick! Now that’s an important analysis!

I thought Matt Blunt didn’t run for reelection because he had to spend more time with “his family.” Not hotel rooms in St. Louis, but with his family. How did he find the time for this?

Ha! As if we care what these two think. Come 2009 they will both be has-beens.

“He’s a left liberal blue state Democrat with no executive experience – just like Senator Obama himself.”

Thank God! We’ve had too many years of right wing conservative holier than thou I got mine Republicans.

Talent….you are a has-been. Missourians spoke and we don’t want you.
Blunt…what’s the REAL reason you are not seeking reelection. I’ve heard the rumors.

Republican Senators Lugar from Indiana and Hagel from Nebraska both praised Biden as Obama’s choice.

In fact Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) said “An Obama-Biden ticket is a very impressive and strong team. Biden’s selection is good news for Obama and America.”

I bet you any amount of money that whoever McCain picks is not going to get that same kind of praise from Democrats as Biden got from Republicans. This is a man who is respected throughout the country by Democrats and Republicans alike. Heck, even Strom Thurmond’s family in South Carolina asked Biden to speak at his funeral. Biden is a great pick and he’ll be a great Vice President.

I heard the former senator on the 5 o’clock news and was amazed that his little speech was nearly verbatim (including some of them big words) as the Republican pogue I heard on CNN at the gym at 10 a.m.. I’m sure it was coincidence and not some memorized response.

Man o man! These towo losers make a difference, eh? Just like McCain, they were too ignorant to hold high office. And, John McCain is STILL too ignorant to be President!

Two losers comment–great. And Blunt is talking about inexperience, jeez. Why does Talent consider it a weakness for Obama to join forces with somebody who has great credentials–or any sort. I suppose that when McCain comes up with some young whipper-snapper like Romney as a running mate (which conventional wisdom, at least, suggests is necessary for this senior-citizen candidate), Talent will be all over the fact that McCain is trying to compensate for his recent fuddled inability to function at the top of his game.

Uninspiring and lack of experience would be two areas that the Lame Duck Blunt could certainly speak to. Those are two areas that he is in up to his neck. Former Senator Talent is also in his wheelhouse to metion underminding a message and adding nothing to the ticket. I would be happy to drive the Lame Duck around to places where people were shafted on his insurance cuts and let him explain inspiration. As for former Senator Talent, I want to dig up that old clip of him complaining about ethanol. I think it was on the Jim Leher Newshour he smirked that it was too expensive to produce and would cost more than gasoline. Keep up the great work dudes! I should be able to mobilize twenty more workers on your comments alone.
