Delegate Spotlight: Crystal Lovett-Tibbs
Jake Wagman
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Throughout the Democratic and Republican conventions, we’ll be providing short profiles of local delegates.

Here is the last Democratic “Delegate Spotlight.” Come back next week for GOP delegates.

Name: Crystal Lovett-Tibbs

Age: 33

Hometown: Princeton Heights neighborhood in St. Louis

Political experience: Environmental law attorney, grass roots volunteer for Barack Obama

Road to Convention: Had not been politically active until her mom told her about Obama’s 2004 convention speech. “She said, ‘There is this guy, he’s amazing — he’s going to be the first African-American president. She said his name is Barack Obama.’ I said, ‘What kind of name is that?’” Lovett-Tibbs began volunteering for Obama last year, knocking on hundreds of doors for the campaign. She was elected a convention delegate in May.

Convention highlight: “I got to meet Jimmy Carter.”

Looking forward to: “Besides the inaugural ball? I’m really looking forward to getting back out and knocking on doors.”
