Dem lawmakers criticize Dulle decision
A group of Missouri Democratic House members who are also veterans held a conference call today to criticize Gov. Matt Blunt for “politicizing” the Missouri Veterans Commission.
The MVC’s executive director, Hal Dulle, was forced out by his board in an executive session attended by the governor’s chief of staff, Trish Vincent. The chairman of the board, Joe Frank, says that criticism of Dulle from the governor’s office was key in making the decision. Among the criticisms? That Dulle had mentioned Attorney General Jay Nixon in a positive light on the radio. The governor’s office denies the allegation.
Of the three Democratic House members on the call (John Burnett, Tom Schively and Charlie Norr), only Norr knew how to pronounce Dulle’s name. (It’s DOO-ley). The call was arranged by the Missouri Democratic Party.
Norr said he had just spoken with Dulle on some veterans issue a few days ago and had no idea that he was on his way out. He said he thought Dulle had a good relationship with the legislature.
“I think he’s being unfairly treated,” Norr said. “This is the wrong time and place to do something like this.”
Asked if a political party organizing a news conference to criticize the governor of the opposite party for politicizing the veterans commission was, well, political, Burnett said he was on the call because he wanted to stand up for veterans.
“Granted, there are political overtones to everything we do in Jefferson City,” Burnett said.

It’s pretty obvious who the PD sided with on this one. In a case where Vincent says one thing and Dulle says another, the PD automatically casts its vote against the Blunt administration. I mean, it’s just shocking that PD runs stories based solely on what one guy said about his buddy getting let go.
Amazing how the mere presence of a UNIFORM makes some men lose all capacity for reason and rational thought.
“War hero” is meant to stop thought, just like “you love Saddam” or “liberals hate the troops.”
Champing about “war heros” is MUCH easier than actually looking at McCain’s record, history, and ample demonstrations of character (lack thereof).
The “war hero” line reflects the thought process of sheep, not real American citizens.
McCain is counting on the votes of Pavlovian dogmen who salivate at the sight of certain articles of clothing. Queer when you think about it.
I am as anti-Blunt as the next common man. This blog leaves much to be learned. To hint that Lame Duck Blunt had a fair amount of influence over what a group of leaders had to decide allows more credit than he deserves. Is this one of those deals where the Executive Director went out on his personal agenda and shed the policies and resolutions of the membership? I’m not sure which makes me more concerned. Is it the notion that a board of veterans has to rely on Lame Duck Blunt to make up their mind? Or is it that a guy who is supposed to be responsible to the members he serves running off at the mouth?
Leave it to the Dems to politicize this. Gov. Blunt is a veteran himself so he wouldn’t politicize vet issues. And does any objectively-minded person really believe they’d oust a guy because he mentioned a guy’s name on the radio???
This administration’s sole interest is the accumulation of power for the sake of having it to distribute favors and create wealth for its inner circle. It is corrupt, vindictive, hateful and without any resemblace of moral compass. It will be so nice to see them go. There are a few that should go to jail and that would be a pleasant bonus.
Anyone who thinks Blunt wouldn’t politicize this because he is a Navy guy is either naive or has not been paying attention. EVERYTHING is political to Blunt. He WENT to the Naval Academy because of politics. This administration’s solitary goal is the accumulation of power for the sake of having it and to distribute favors and wealth to its small, corrupt inner circle.
