Early (make that very early) voting trends
Here’s Sarah Steelman’s challenge tonight:
While she’s winning some early rural precincts, in the one’s she’s losing, she loses big.
Some of the southeast Missouri precincts are trickling in, and while again they’re small samples, Kenny Hulshof is winning big in the area where he grew up. In the first precinct to report in New Madrid, Hulshof gets 21 votes to Steelman’s 1. Expect large numbers like that in many SE Missouri precincts and also some of the ones in Hulshof’s 9th Congressional District.
And while Steelman won the first Johnson County precinct (Kansas City suburb) by decent numbers, 55 percent to 35 percent, that’s an area where her campaign spent big money and Hulshof mostly ignored. It will be tough for her to overcome Hulshof’s big leads in other areas even if she wins in K.C.
