This just in: Eddie Hasan, a well-known figure in St. Louis politics, plead guilty in federal court today for filing a false tax report. Eddie Hasan

He admitted not paying taxes on money he earned from a consulting contract with St. Louis Public Schools, as well as other income.

The charges, publicly at least, were unexpected: There were no reports that Hasan was under investigation.

Hasan runs MoKan, which helps construction contractors with minority contracts. He is also the publisher of the St. Louis Argus newspaper and father of former State Rep. Yaphett El-Amin, whose husband, T.D. El-Amin, currently holds her old seat.

Bill, you are a sweet man. Sappy, but sweet. If you are Hassan’s “brother” then you have an evil twin. You are out for good, Hasan is out for himself. He has a long record as a race-baiting shakedown artist. Ask any major contractor and they will tell you about what happens when Eddie walks into your office. Sorry Bill, you are a good hearted guy but a bit too trusting. Garrison gets it. Never thought I would say that.

fair enough, those who commented on my comments, and am respectful of your views, but without defending what Eddie did, because we all know you shouldnt do it if you arent prepared to read it in the headlines of the next day’s paper, and as Baretta said, dont do the crime if you cant do the time, there is more than one way to spin what Eddie did, or more than one take on it, and you can be brothers with someone without always approving of how they act; I dont expect my friends to always approve of how I act (tho it is nice when they do); and I dont accept that because you did one thing wrong, everything you do is for the money; I’ve known Eddie for 15 years; I know he’s not like that; he’s a good and caring person who did something selfish and wrong, and ultimately foolish; and I say those things trying not to judge; I’m sure he’d admit that he shouldnt have done it, but wont defend him or his actions; and I will say what I often do, that I’d rather live my life being too trusting than not trusting enough; but I never trust anyone with something I cant afford or arent prepared to lose, if I have a choice.

ps anyone who’s judging Eddie, what he did is nothing compared to the Enron people who ruined people’s lives; so I expect you to judge them worse; the only one Eddie hurt, or the main one, is himself, and his family; and if truth be told, he probably did what he did for his family. that’s not to say he shouldnt be punished, but I hope he gets mercy on the sentence within permissable guidelines and precedence.

Funny how the word “Democrat” appears no where in this story. Typical of the non-existent journalistic ethics of P-D reporters.

Bill - I was unaware you were bi-racial. I was wondering what your comments were on Edwards and his love child. Funny how the mainstream media refuses to comment on that topic. Apparently there is no father listed on the child’s birth certificate. I wonder how she did that alone.

Bill, you are defending the indefensible.

Dude’s a crook.

hmm…one name that hasn’t been brought up is John Steffen, who is Eddie’s buddy. Several media outlets reported that Steffen was one of Hasan’s backers when Hasan bought the St. Louis Argus from the Mitchell family. Now why would Steffen sink 10s of thousands of dollars into the Argus. He’s a developer…you would think it would make more sense for him to give money to Mokan. Unless? Wait, what? Somethin’ ain’t right there! As my grandma always said, what goes around comes around. You reap what you sow.

I am so glad that the black community see the real Eddie Hassan. He is a crook and a shake-down artist. He shakes down all Minority Contractors for jobs, MBE/DBE/WBE certifications,he makes money using the community’s familes and their children, he involved in multiple 501 C3 scams, he hunts after our young female babies after 5:00pm on the city’s (west side), He is a replublicrat, and he is apart of a click of people. This bothers me because we have young men and women killing each other due to housing, employment, and false leadership. So, yes to me, in our community, he is just as bad as ENRON. Don’t think its over yet, his daughter, and about 10 others are still out here to continue his legecy!
