How are the polls? Let us know.

Have you been out to vote yet? How are the polls looking?

Construction blocking an entrance? Long lines? New staff? Missing ballots? Traffic issues? Technological snafus?

Of course, we’re happy to hear of success stories. Did things go swimmingly? Have a poll worker to congratulate?

Either way, we want to know. Post your voting day experience here, and we’ll keep an eye on this thread for any tips that we can pass along to the rest of the STLtoday.com audience.

And, of course, we’ll gladly look into any irregularities.

Just saw the below on another blog:

Reports from across the state are saying “low turnout” The highest I have heard as we close in on mid-day is 30%. Most reports are in the 20-25% range. One precinct phoned in a 13% turnout - and that was a rather large precinct.

What does low turnout mean?

It means that only party insiders are voting. It means old people can’t stand the heat and young people only care about the Presidential race.
Kenny Hulshof benefits.
Jeff Harris benefits.

I voted this morning in Clayton, where the Republican lines are more impressive than the Democratic lines. I wisked in and out, because I of course voted the DEMOCRATIC ticket.

It does seem like low turnout in St. Louis as well. It’s unfortunate– get out and vote!!

In St. Charles, had to walk past a JESUS placcard in the window of the local Baptist church to get into the sanctuary to cast my ballot. Used to vote in the school district office but believe this was entirely too secular to satisfy the county’s elections director. I didnt’ watch the machine I used that closely, but a friend from another precinct said that her optical scan voting machine did not register her ballot on the running tally the machine keeps as ballots are fed in. When she advised the poll officials, she was told they were aware the machine count was “a couple off” from the actual number of ballots cast. This was before 10 a.m. I would sure like to know if that means some votes are not being counted.

Voted an hour ago. Things moving smoothly at the Kennard School at Potomac and Brannon in South City. Keep up the good work, ladies and gents.

Though I will admit, especially for a lunch-hour, the polls seemed pretty dead.

On howdershell in Hazelwood, Russell Elementary and St. Pat’s church are polling places next door to each other that are both undergoing construction. If you go around back of the school their is extra parking. Ask one of the electioneers for help if needed.

Voted in Clayton. Was number 100 at 9:45 a.m. For the last election I was 68 at 4:00 p.m. I think the increase at this poll has to do with Steve Brown supporters showing up, although there were more R’s that had voted than D’s.

Not surprised there is a low voter turn out today…..it’s usually that way for this partisan aspect of our election process.

The primary system in Missouri leaves out Indies and 3rd party candidates which is why Independents like the membership of Show Me Independents (www.showmeindependents.org) support changing the primary process to Instant Runoff Voting…www.instantrunoffvoting.com

In Webster Groves, I walked past the Webster Christian Church to vote…so, of course, I voted Republican.

I voted in GOP primary and noticed in the 2nd County Council district that I was allowed to do a write-in (there was no candidate filed). I thought write-ins were not allowed in primaries (except for committee races). I called the county election board and they said my ballot was right. Can you check on this?
