Hulshof claims GOP Gov. nomination, video excerpts

Here’s six different video excerpts from U.S. Rep. (and freshly minted GOP gubernatorial nominee) Kenny Hulshof tonight here in Columbia.

Hulshof took time to thank and praise his opponent Treasurer Sarah Steelman and her supporters before he turned his sights on Attorney General Jay Nixon.

He challenged Nixon to make the fall race one of ideas, rather than running on the past or political ghosts. At the same time, he suggested repeatedly that Nixon wanted to take Missouri back to the past before outgoing Gov. Matt Blunt took over.

And he riled up the crowd with what may very well become a GOP campaign chant: “Wrong Way, Jay.”

Hulshof kicks @ss. Nixon is sure to try every dirty trick in the book this fall … in fact, I “coincidentally” received a mailing from Nixon letting me know what a great job he is doing on the No Call List, which arrived on Monday - at taxpayer expense, of course. The guy has almost $3 million in the bank, but he needs ME to pay for a thinly disguised campaign mailing.

Hulshof is just lucky that he’s a congressman and not a state elected official, as that puts him out of reach of Nixon’s abusive investigations. You can be sure that if Steelman had won, Nixon would have found some excuse to launch an investigation against her this fall. As it is now, Nixon has been caught with his pants down on the email issue, launched a politically motivated investigation against the governor in the shadow of the campaign season, and been caught accepting thousands of dollars in laundered money from Ameren right in the middle of negotiating a settlement with them on the Taum Sauk incident. This is your nominee, Democrats … love it!
