While Missouri is focused on today’s primary election, the presidential election chugs along (91 days to go!) in the rest of the country.
To wit: Today the Commission on Presidential Debates announced their roster of moderators.
For the Oct. 2 vice-presidential debate at Washington University, the commission has tapped veteran Beltway journalist Gwen Ifill, host of “Washington Week” and a former reporter for the Washington Post and New York Times, among other newspapers.
This will be familiar territory for Ifill, who moderated the last vice-presidential debate in 2004 between Dick Cheney and John Edwards.
Moderating the debates between Barack Obama and John Mccain are a trio of broadcast stalwarts: Tom Brokaw, Bob Schieffer and Jim Lehrer, Ifill’s colleague at the NewsHour.
The commission’s website has more on the format of the debates.
