It’s primary day, go vote!

Right now, it’s Tuesday, August 5th, 6 a.m. Do you know where your polling place is?

Today is the Big Day across our state. Polls have officially opened. A lot of us will be watching the news and numerous web sites tonight to see just what happens.

Of course, the two most watched primary races will be the GOP contest for governor — with Kenny Hulshof vs. Sarah Steelman as the main event — and the Democratic contest for attorney general, featuring Margaret Donnelly, Jeff Harris, Chris Koster and the nearly-silent Molly Williams.

But before the ballot counting and the suspense begins, go vote! If you have forgotten your polling place, you look-up your address here on the Secretary of State’s website.

And if you need more info to make up your mind, check out the Post-Dispatch Voter’s Guide and the STLtoday.com Politics portal.

Then, come back here throughout the day and into the night for text, photo and video updates from the political team.

Chris Koster is the most qualified person to be Attorney General and the best candidate Democrats have running.

Jeff and Margaret are great Democrats but neither can come close to being as qualified as Koster is to fill the AG’s office. Koster has real support from long term traditional Democratic organizations like, Police, Fire Fighters, Organized Labor and great Democrats like Bob McCulloch.

Koster served as the Cass County prosecutor for the 10 years followed by being a State Senator for the last 4 years. Koster has spent nearly his entire career serving the citizen of Missouri.

Jay Nixon called Koster a great candidate and said “this experience would serve him well as Attorney General”.

As for Harris and Donnelly, Jeff Harris has skipped more then 33% of the votes in the Mo. House over the last year, Why?? Margaret Donnelly skipped more then 25% of the votes in the Mo. House during that same time Why?? Why vote for a person that does not show up for work??? Why did they miss so many votes?? If most people skip work 1 out of every 3 days, they would get fired.

Chris Koster has real experience as an excellent County Prosecutor and State Senator. Plus one more added benefit, he shows up for work.

I am a life long Democrat and I am voting for Chris Koster.

The office of attorney general requires, first and foremost, an attorney. Chris Koster is that attorney. For all the negative and mindless attacks against Mr. Koster, none of them challenge the essence of the case Mr. Koster has made for himself in this campaign: he is the best attorney, with the most experience as an attorney, that is running for the office of attorney general.

The others in this race loudly proclaim their party loyalty but, in a race to be the State’s top attorney, it is experience and legal abilities that matter most. While Mr. Koster has made his case on this basis, the others have not. None of the candidates, other than Mr. Koster, have said anything about their legal expertise. What cases have they taken to trial? When have they stood before a judge or jury? What experience do they have in appearing before the Supreme Court? In sum, how will they defend and enforce the statutes and laws of the State of Missouri?

Mr. Koster can answer these questions and has done so by pointing to an impressive record of public service as an attorney. What we’ve heard from the other candidates is nothing but political posturing and personal attacks that have little to do with being attorney general. In short, Mr. Koster fits the job description. The others do not.

I will be voting for Chris Koster

Ahh, to live in a at least semi-working and free democracy.

Speaking of well qualified candidates: Let’s not forget Larry Williams, the incumbent who’s running for City Treasurer. He’s done more for this City than any politician in recent memory. (Sound investments, city-wide development, clear vision for the future) And he’s running against an inexperienced candidate who has no vision for the City, and whose only complaint has to do with foggy domes on the parking meters! Go for the leader, the man who has proven his ability to lead.

Just wondering, how many times do the Obama folks get to spam on this blog? Yes, posting a commercial link is SPAM, even if you are working to elect The Messiah.

Jeff Harris is the best choice for AG. Since we are suddenly for quoting Jay Nixon, Nixon said Harris would make a “super Attorney General.” Jeff has the legal and legislative experience required to be AG. He has the best understanding of the office and the most comprehensive policy plan for the office.

I do not support Obama,
but I would remind those adamantly opposed to him
of this:

“You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God”

this negative use of ‘Messiah’ reflects badly on the user. I’m sure that it offends believers, as well as Obama supporters.

Ryan’s characterization of Dan Schesch is false. Schesch has a full platform of changes he’d make to the way the Treasurer’s office operates.

we have too many parking spaces in the city. Parking does not generate economic activity, no matter how much of it the Treasurer builds. Williams has built more spaces than the market can absorb. Meanwhile, we’re not even leveraging the parking we have for maximum revenue return, and we’re not taking the easier and cheaper step (and more helpful to businesses) of allowing free parking throughout the city on Saturdays. I think Schesch has made valid points and run an intelligent campaign. Williams has done an okay job, but his vision for parking really doesn’t work in a city that is still struggling to grow its population. We don’t need more parking spaces than city residents.
