Koster showcases law-enforcement support, then meets with NARAL
State Sen. Chris Koster, for the moment the Democratic nominee for Missouri attorney general, showed up in his old hometown of University City this afternoon with various area law-enforcement officials who also are key supporters.
They included Missouri Fraternal Order of Police President Kevin Ahlbrand, Pine Lawn Police Chief Ricky Collins, and St. Louis County Prosecuting Att0rney Bob McCulloch.
Here’s a video of Koster as he explained his key campaign issues as he looks to his November battle against Republican Mike Gibbons, a state senator from Kirkwood:
Collins (whose video didn’t turn out) said he was supporting Koster, in part, because he was impressed that Koster had held his campaign kickoff several months ago in Pine Lawn. While there, Koster had persuaded Collins to drive him around town.
Tuesday’s event was held at the University City public library, where Koster said he spent many hours as a boy and student.
Also on tap for Koster on Tuesday: An afternoon meeting with officials with NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri. The group had sent out thousands of anti-Koster fliers before the Aug. 5 primary.
The fliers took issue with Koster’s change of heart, when it comes to abortion rights, since he switched political parties a year ago.
As a Democrat, he now says he supports Roe v Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision allowing abortion.
As a Republican, he didn’t.
According to Koster’s spokesman, Democrats seeking to get the party’s base behind him set up today’s meeting.

Flip flopping on abortion, now there’s something you don’t see every day. Can someone say political opportunist?
I hope Gibbons tears Koster apart!
And how many cases did Jay Nixon prosecute as attorney general? Or Jack Danforth? He whole premise for running is based on a lie. Let’s see if the voters buy it.
The Attorney General should be someone that is familiar with the prosecution of criminal cases so that there is direction to policy initiatives and special enforcement units in the office (meth and cyber-crime/computer forensics to name a couple). What good is any team of criminal investigators that is not lead by someone who knows what it takes to bring evidence into a courtroom and get it admitted and presented to a jury? The AG also has to be able to supervise special attorneys general that prosecute high profile felonies in smaller jurisdictions that are not accustomed to bringing such matters to trial. Prosecutorial experience does matter.
Prosecutor experience matters only in the respect that it is general legal experience. Criminal cases comprise such a small section of the cases handled by the office that being a former prosecutor doesn’t provide any more benefit than if Koster had managed a small local firm. I’m not saying his time as prosecutor is useless, its just not as important as his campaign wants everyone to believe.
I would imagine his daddy is rolling over in his grave.
What does Martin Duggen have to say about the newly minted Mr. Koster?
Monkaton, I knew Chris’s dad and I’ve known Martin Duggan. Rich would be proud of Chris if he were alive today. Martin will disagree with him issue by issue. I’ve known and witnessed Chris’s work in Cass County. Does that answer your question? Feel free to ask again when you need answers.
Once again, the imposter is going to use the prosecutor platform which does nothing for the AG’s office. He does nothing for Democrats either.
WAKE UP DEMOCRATS… WE DON’T HAVE A CANDIDATE IN THIS RACE!!!
I like Koster, personally, although I felt that his party switch was opportunistic, at best.
But if he’s changing his tune on Roe v. Wade and abortion in general, I’ve lost all respect for the man.
The Fraternal Order of Police aren’t supporting Koster because of his experience, talent, or ability. They are supporting him because Koster is a union whore. The FOP is nothing more than your run of the mill organized labor crowd. YAWN
