Koster to campaign Saturday in St. Louis
State Sen. Chris Koster, the chief Democratic target in the party’s three-way contest for Missouri attorney general, will be in St. Louis on Saturday.
Ironically, that’s also when the negative TV ad campaign financed by his ex-wife is expected to begin, according to political insiders.
Here’s Koster’s schedule:
10 a.m.:Â Addresses supporters at 8020 Olive Blvd. before canvassing
11:30 a.m: Attends 27th Ward picnic
12:45 p.m.: Delivers remarks at youth recognition event at 2012 Martin Luther King Drive.
“The event’s purpose is to recognize youth achievement in sports, academics and community service, and the senator has been invited to speak,” a spokesman said.
At least two of those stops are in the 1st Congressional District, where Koster has been endorsed by the congressman, William Lacy Clay Jr.

Don’t waste your time, Koster probably won’t make it. He’ll have another “scheduling conflict” just like he had when he was suppose to be in Columbia today. If he does show up, maybe he can break the amazing attendance record he set in Cape Girardeau yesterday: 3 people.
If you want to spend part of your Saturday with the NEXT Missouri Attorney General, come see Democrat Margaret Donnelly - because you know where she stands and this weekend she isn’t standing, she’s running hard:
8 a.m.: Kirkwood Farmers Market (150 East Argonne Drive)
9 a.m.: Florissant for rally with supporters at the Clock Tower Pasta House (11202 West Florissant)
Then Margaret is off to campaign this weekend in Kansas City, Springfield and Columbia, rallying votes on the way to a thumping Tuesday primary victory! GO MARGARET!
Cmon Holly Donnelly is great but she is in 3rd. Please support Jeff but he may need help from some of the Donnelly supporters to beat Koster.
Cmon Jessica, we can agree that Koster isn’t our first choice. Your support for your third-place Columbia youngster candidate is really admirable, but marvelous Margaret Donnelly of St. Louis is going to win outright on Tuesday.
I am grateful for strong Democratic activists like Jessica. She will be welcome to come on board for the fall after fulfilling her commitment to her chosen candidate. Yay for Jessica’s dedication!
As for this Tuesday’s Democratic primary — Margaret’s supporters urge supporters of Koster AND Harris who are growing weary of the manly mudslinging and numbskull negativity to take a fresh look at the finest and most mature candidate in the race, Margaret Donnelly. GO MARGARET GO!
Mudslinging? Come on Holly, who’s slinging the mud. Right now it’s Koster AND Donnelly have decided they need to go negative. Looks like Harris is walking away with this thing. A lot of us Democrats love Donnelly, but we also know she isn’t going to win.
And every Democrat I know is laughing that Koster got just 3 people (and they were all from a group that had endorsed him) to turn out in Cape Girardeau. And then when he canceled his event in Columbia and launched negative ads today, it became pretty clear. Even $2 million isn’t enough to fool the voters of Missouri.
Harris has all the momentum right now, and he’s doing forty times the tour of the state that either Donnelly and Koster can muster. Give ‘em Hell, Jeff, you’re going to win on Tuesday!!!
At the end of the day on August 5th, there will be at least one candidate that can feel completely good about the race he has run.
Senator Koster has absolutely stuck to talking about himself and his qualifications and defending his record throughout this race. He has not released ugly TV ads using quotes out of context to draw the viewer to conclusions that were never intended by the originators of the quotes. In spite of the lows that have been reached as both of the other candidates stooped to try to pull Senator Koster down to their level, Koster has resolutely kept marching day after day. I haven’t seen him side-tracked or focused on his opponents ugliness towards him, but simply focused on what he must do to move ahead and bring positive results to the next Attorney General’s office.
I’m sure there will be comments aplenty from the Jeff and Margaret people, but let me just say this - Senator Koster has been inspiring, as I have watched him never turn around and throw mud back or start creating ugly soap operas. He has done what we have all been saying we’ve been looking for all this time — he has run a completely positive campaign.
If the voters actually watch the mud slinging and believe the mud more than noticing that one guy is a leader and keeps going even when the battle gets hot, too bad. But I think most Missourians are getting pretty good at recognizing mud when they see it. Let’s hope that’s the case on August 5.
Negative ads from Koster? Did these just come out today? What do they say?
I wish the Political Fix would put up this info … I’m really curious.
Koster is a good man. All the attacks that Harris and Donnelly and their supporters have put forth, can not change that. Keep throwing the mud so there is no doubt about you character.
I am going to vote for Chris Koster.
“Senator Koster has been inspiring”
Surely not even Koster’s blog trolls believe this nonsense.
Exactly what’s inspiring about a guy who claims to be a Democrat but funds his campaign with hundreds of thousands of dollars from Republicans by skirting the law?
Exactly what’s inspiring about a guy who skipped out on a half dozen debates across the state?
Exactly what is inspiring about a guy who voted to take health care away from 100,000 people?
Exactly what is inspiring about a guy who gave $15,000 to Lacy Clay’s chief of staff just before he got Clay’s endorsement?
There’s nothing inspiring about Koster, which is why his campaign is floundering despite all the money and which is why he is running negative ads right now.
Did Harris and Donnelly really miss all thise votes?
Harris skipped work 1 out of every 3 days and Donnelly skipped work 1 out of every 4 days? Wow, not really the dedicated public servant we should be looking for. In my profession if you skip that much work you get fired…Hmm, there’s an idea.
While Shecky, Jessica and Holly debate who is stealing votes from who, I will be voting for Koster. Good luck Chris.
