Lisa Madigan: A great night for Illinois
DENVER — Though Missouri’s Claire McCaskill will appear on stage, the first night at the convention will really be Illinois’ time to shine.
Illinois State Sen. Emil Jones Jr. — Barack Obama’s Springfield mentor — is set to speak in a little while.
Later, three statewide officials from Illinois will take the stage: Comptroller Dan Hynes, Treasurer Alexi Giannoulis, and Attorney General Lisa Madigan. (Could the absence of Gov. Rod Blagojevich be any more conspicuous?)
“Tonight is a great night to be from Illinois,” Madiagan said. “We’re hearing from the people who really know Barack Obama.”
