This just in from the Democratic presidential campaign of Barack Obama:

U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo. “will help launch a five-day ‘Heartland Change’ RV tour across the state highlighting Senator Obama’s plan to invest in and strengthen rural America.”

The tour is to begin next Monday and will continue for the next five days, ending right before the presidential convention.

“Over the course of the tour, Senator McCaskill will be joined by other federal, state, and local elected officials, including former Senator Jean Carnahan and former Governor Roger Wilson,” the campaign said.

More from the release, which indicates the trip will feature lots of attacks on Republican rival John McCain:

“The RV Tour will be making stops throughout small and large towns in Missouri to talk about Senator Obama’s record of standing up for rural America and highlight the differences between the Obama and McCain records as they relate to rural Missouri.

  • Senator Obama voted for the 2008 Farm Bill, which provides Missouri farmers with the stability they need, important nutrition assistance to children and families, and financial assistance to rural communities.  Senator McCain voted against the 2008 Farm Bill, and said if he were president he’d veto it.
  • While Missourian’s are paying over $4 a gallon at the pump, Senator Obama has called for a $1,000 energy rebate for working families.   John McCain is pushing for more than $4 billion in tax cuts for the oil companies whose lobbyists contribute to his campaign….”

The tour will include “town hall events, roundtables and press events,” the release added.

Dear Barack Obama:

It has to be McCaskill to win!

1. Claire McCaskill needs to be the Vice Presidential Candidate to capture the female vote in November.

2. As Missouri goes so goes the nation. JOHN MCCAIN 50%
BARACK OBAMA 44% John McCain leads Barack Obama in Missouri , according to the latest Rasmussen Reports survey. When “leaners” are included in the survey, McCain leads Obama 50% to 44%. When just solid supporters are tabulated, the results changes slightly: McCain 48%, Obama 41%. Clearly Claire McCaskill as a dynamic campaigner can turn that around and help win Missouri and other states with her down home talking.

3. To run a real campaign based on “Change” having two candidates who are outside the beltway and that have not only the feel but the real pulse of the people.

Mr. Obama Please consider Senator McCaskill this week as you make your decision.

Thank you and enjoy your vacation time.

Sincerely,

Jeff Kenkel

“Missourian’s are paying over $4 a gallon at the pump…”

They may want to revise that. Must of been written awhile back.

What better way to explain the challenges families face in fuel prices than to fire up a big RV that gets 5 mpg and head out on the highway, looking for adventure.

Please take Kenkel’s advice and draft Claire. She needs another loss on her record.
