Media madness: Food and games in Denver

DENVER — There are slated to be 15,000 reporters covering the Democratic Convention in Denver this week, all of them eschewing sleep and sustenance to blog, twitter and write like never before.

Of course, that doesn’t begin until Monday.

For now, it’s a plush spread and carnival games. Check out the vegetarian caviar and Bart Simpson dolls in the two videos below.

Still I wait for some substantive coverage. This is inside baseball for the media to lord over most reporters who stayed home. It’s like reporters being hard up for fresh stuff and quoting an “unnamed” taxi driver, or a named one. I don’t want to read about the media’s schmoozing on the dole of corporate donors to either national convention (and let no one be fooled, that’s who is treating the parties, food and beverages at welcome events for the media, not to mention the delegates and hangers on). We know it happeens, so let’s move on to some actual reeporting.

My question is, do they shower?

15,000 reporters? C’mon Adam, that’s ridiculous by anyone’s standard of calculation. That’s an average of 300 reporters per state. Somehow, I don’t think there are 300 reporters from Missouri in Denver. Or Illinois. Or Montana, Rhode Island, etc. Don’t tell me local TV stations are sending staff. They’re cutting back just like your biz is doing. I’m sick and tired of this exaggerated made-up c r a p without attribution.
