Obama vet campaign leader to meet with Mo vets
The Missouri campaign for Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama is bringing in his national veterans director, Phil Carter, for roundtable discussions Monday in Kansas City and Springfield, Mo. with local military veterans.
Mike Evans, an Army veteran from the St. Louis area, is among those actively involved in Obama’s campaign. The participation of Evans and others was announced a couple weeks ago.
According to the campaign’s Sunday release:
At each roundtable, approximately 30 veterans from wars ranging from World War II to the ongoing war in Iraq will discuss Senator Obama’s vow to keep the sacred trust of servicemen and women.
Among other things, the sessions are expected to emphasis Obama’s work in the Senate to improve care at Walter Reed Hospital for U.S. troops wounded in Iraq.
The effort appears aimed at countering the appeal of GOP presumptive nominee John McCain, a Vietnam War veteran who suffered through five years of captivity and mistreatment by the North Vietnamese.
McCain also has a veterans campaign arm, and has made a point of holding campaign events in Missouri and elsewhere that feature supportive military veterans.

Veterans have suffered greatly because McCain doesn’t understand them or e-mail.

All one has to do is look at Senator McCains voting record involving veterans issues and they will see he has the worst record in the Senate when it comes to helping veterans. Voting records don’t lie. I urge all vets to look at this record before voting in November.
While I agree with everyones ability to write whatever you want, I must disagree with your points.
And when it comes down to a possible commander-in-chief, who do you think understands the military better? Who has more experience? Not only to lead but also to fix what is wrong with the military and with vets affairs. So that they run more efficiently.
When you look at it, Barack Obama lacks the experience necessary to be commander-in-chief.
Is this because NObama is vacationing in Hawaii this week? I am happy that he is so confident in his winning in November.
I know McCain generally votes against earmarks and wasteful spending and I don’t mean to imply at all that vet spending is wasteful, but I am curious if some vet spending is unfortunately lumped in with other “bridge to no-where type spending” and you are using those stats to imply that McCain votes against vets. It is something worth investigating.
Hogan - I’m not going to read any of your stupid links until you apologize publicly to me about saying the National Enquirer was wrong about phony Edwards. Come out and act like a man with character.
Sgt. C. Stevens, are you commenting in your capacity as a member of the military? Lose your rank identification Sgt.
A CENTRIST After you Hogan will then be apologizing to Pres. Bush.
