Sen. Bond: Dems have it wrong on energy this fall

Leaving Kenny Hulshof’s victory party, U.S. Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond went after Democrats in Missouri and nationally and called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Democratic Prez nominee Barack Obama to all change their stances on energy and new drilling for oil.

Asked how pocketbook issues would affect the fall elections, Bond went after Democrats and tried to paint them at out of touch with voter’s needs.

This comes less than a week after Obama made a four city tour of Missouri talking about economic and energy issues. (Here he is from Union.)

Bond’s response:

I hope Pelosi’s moronic views on off-shore drilling

leads to Obama’s defeat in November.

WHAT? Of the past 30 years, 20 of those years the President has been Republican. Of those 20 years, 10 of those Republican years have been held by men from the Oil Industry. Furthermore the Republicans have had majority in Congress for well over half of the 30 years. If over the past 30 years there was any real desire by the Republicans, Bond included, I certainly think they could have gotten it done! The fact is, there wasn’t any will to do anything that would be considered forward thinking with regards to our energy policy. Nothing was done, by either party… the blame is certainly not just that of the Democrats!

Bt….. nothing could get accomplished by the Republicans because the Democrats always stood in the way.

For instance…. turning out the lights and going home for 5 weeks
rather than let a vote be taken that 72% of Americans approve of.

That “talking point” is weak dude…..

Old Sarge… the blaming the other party talking point is tired and overused. Our current need is missed opportunity of past leadership. Nothing has been done by anyone for 30 years and blaiming it all on one party is misguided and weak!

Bt… you can’t weasle out from the fact that the Democtats
have been in cahoots with the crazy tree huggers all this time, that easy.

If you believe both parties are to blame …. just don’t vote in Nov.

I’ll probably cancell your vote out anyway :-)

I see Senator Bond is his usual thoughtful restrained self. Was he sober as well?

RH, maybe he was “smoking weed and doing blow” with Obama.

I agree that both parties have been to blame at various times within the last 30 years for not having a comprehensive energy policy, however, in Bush’s State of the Union address a few years ago, he mentioned the use of alternative energies…which obviously went no where.

Pelosi won’t bring the issue to a vote until she gets Obama in office. THEN she’ll come out with a statement that, after careful thought and discussions with oil executives on the safety of pulling oil out of the ground, it makes sense to allow the issue to come up for a vote. It’s all about power, ladies and gents, and Pelosi is all about that. She also does not want to make the tree-huggers angry and lose their votes (and money). Remember, she represents San Francisco and gets her money for those left-wing wackos.

It’s a funny statement from Bond after seeing what the Republicans have given us over the last 8 years…..When the Democrats pick up an additional 9 seats in the Senate, we’ll have a comprhensive and effective energy policy.

Sarge…”tree-huggers”?
What generation are you? Your writings indicate an inexperienced mind, but maybe you’re a throw-back from the 70’s.

Logic -
Actually, Senator Bond’s middle name in some circles (years back I’ll admit) was Christopher Kit Buy-Me-A-Drink Bond.

At least that is the slack I usually cut him when he speaks — I’d hate to think that is the way he speaks when he is sober.
