After another bruising primary, the Sixth Ward Democrats will meet for a public fence-mending session this evening. Sixth Ward

Officially, the annual Taste of the Sixth Ward combines food from the ward’s restaurants — spots in trendy neighborhoods such as Lafayette Square and the Washington Avenue Loft District — with a chance for residents to meet their elected officials.

Unofficially, it will give the ward’s Democratic organization a chance to heal the wounds from the August 5 election.

Among the guests is State Rep. Robin Wright-Jones, a Sixth Ward resident who secured a State Senate seat despite her own ward and alderman, Kacie Starr Triplett, backing rival Rodney Hubbard.

(But who listens to ward endorsements anyway? Wright-Jones won the Sixth by over 15 percent.)

In addition to Starr and Wright-Jones, the ward’s commiteemen and committeewoman are expected to attend the event, in a private home in the Gate District.

Congressman and Sixth Ward resident Russ Carnahan is slated to be there as well.

The Sixth Ward has shown the ability to overcome divisions before . Last year, some ward leaders were irked by young Triplett’s lack of concern over ward protocol when she was seeking her seat.

Not only has Triplett, now 28, been embraced by the ward since beating two more seasoned opponents, she’ll also by representing the area at next week’s Democratic Convention in Denver.

Robin Wright-Jones has not just “secured a State House seat”.
She won a State Senate Seat.

And wasn’t there a whole reporting mess about Triplett’s alleged endorsement of Hubbard? I believe the final story was that her ward endorsed him, but she stopped short of giving a personal endorsement.

Get your reporting straigt, Wagman!
