Wright-Jones wins a squeaker; Storch rolls
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
In two races of key interest in St. Louis, Rodney Hubbard lost a squeaker — 111 votes! — to fellow State Rep. Robin Wright-Jones.
Expect a recount?
Maybe, but not in the 64th District, where incumbent Rachel Storch coasted to victory against Mike Roberts Jr., who dipped into his personal wealth to challenge the incumbent.

Wow, good job St. Louis voters picking out the Dem that really is in this primary, Hubbard is a Red in Blue clothing, always played ball with the other side…
Jones never passed a bill. Hubbard might have played ball with the other side, that’s called getting the job done. Give and take, maybe if there was more of that our state and nation would be a better place!
We need to trust politicians and Wright-Jones is one that will work hard for issues that will come up in the Senate. I heard Rodney did not have a big ground game during election day while Wright-Jones had many people out. Guess that could of helped out.
Hubbard’s campaign workers were outside the door to my polling place and handed me a fake ballot and a piece of paper that had “Hubbard for Senate” on it with his picture. It is illegal to campaign within 25 feet of a polling place, and they were misleading voters with their fake ballots. I called the St. Louis Election Commission, The Secretary of States Office, The Missouri Democratic Party, and the 9th Ward Committee, the SLEC said they would send an election worker escorted by a police officer to have them removed. It’s sad that they were resorting to ridiculous levels to try and win. I was proud to vote for Ms. Wright, especially since she was endorsed by all the groups the truly matter to Missouri. He went for the celebrity and flash, but she has substance.
Don’t forget that Hubbard’s constituency included the 5th and 19th Wards, otherwise known as Blairmont, the personal fiefdom of Paul McKee, the O’Fallon developer currently devastating the near northside. Hubbard was in the bag for McKee and not afraid to let us know it. This motivated a whole lot of northsiders to get to the polls yesterday and vote for Ms. Jones.
Devastated the near north side? I grew up in that area and it was devastated long ago. My old hood looks like an atomic bomb went off in it. Entire blocks laying vacant or completely razed. There may be a pocket of progress, but all in all that area is a wasteland.
Storch’s 82% to Roberts’ 18% may have been the biggest thumping of the day, in STL at least. It’s nice to know that (in this instance) it takes more than money and a name to win an election.
I hope there is a recount. Hubbard is the man who can get the job done! While he may have some more conservative stances on some points, he is with the people of this district. He knows things need to change and he will be the one to get there. Robin was endorsed by MNEA…to me, that is a turn off. What has the MNEA done to help fix our schools? Not a whole lot. What will she do…not a whole lot either.
Congratulations to all who help campaign for Wright-Jones. I am very
impressed with her folks. They apparently believes in her because they worked a great campaign. From start to finish– they were working it.
Hubbard had the support of most of the aldermen including Lewis Reed & Mayor Slay. St. Louis City Hall is a disaster so I don’t the support from those folks helped him any.
I received a lot of literature via mail from both candidates. I was very impressed that on election day with temperatures nearly 100 degrees that there was a door hanger on my door from Wright-Jones folks.
Congratulations Wright-Jones— I know you’ll make us proud.
“”VOTERS ARE THE REAL CELEBRITIES”"”
It’s past time for something to be done in North St. Louis. It’s sad that in the 21st century, it’s still us against them, black against white, the haves against the have nots, rich against poor. Together, “We can make wonderful music.” We’re still fighting and motivating people by fear and conditions get worse and worse.
The last time I checked it takes money to make things happen, it takes people working together. It shouldn’t always be about what you don’t want to do, it should be about what you are willing to do and doing. Black folks can emotionalize situations, polarize situations and after the day is done…different day same sh*t. Wake up people!
