Blunt in Kosovo
Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt’s staff announced this morning that the governor “today traveled to the Kosovo Force Headquarters in Pristina to meet with Missouri troops stationed overseas and to see firsthand the many contributions the men and women of the Missouri National Guard are making to help keep our nation safe.”
“Missouri’s patriots are doing tremendous work and representing our state with honor,” the governor said in a statement. “We can all take great pride in everything they do to keep our state and nation safe. It is inspiring to witness the roles these fine young men and women are filling, the selflessness of their sacrifices and their dedication to service.”
Blunt is a member of the Naval Reserve. As his office’s release notes, Blunt “is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served five years on active duty upon graduation. He became the first statewide elected official in Missouri history to be called into active duty following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks serving for six months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.” (Blunt was stationed outside London.)
It’s unclear if Blunt is visiting other countries during this latest overseas trip. In March, Blunt was part of a trade delegation to China. In July, the governor went on a five-country swing through western Europe, adding Belgium to meet with InBev execs.
When we get more details, we’ll provide them.

So -
What are the Governor’s scheduled stops in Vienna - only staying at the airport between planes and making no visits to the sights - right …..?
Maybe like his fact-finding trip to AK a while back ?
I’m sure the troops in Kosovo will be inspired and heartened by his visit…
” Oh, goodie, Sarge - the Governor is coming!
I REALLY want to be inspected again!
My morale is REALLY soaring now! “
Don’t we have a Guard unit staioned in Hawaii? Maybe on the way back from dreary Kosovo, the Governor can inspire them as well…
Hey Thomas! Great to see you know how to use copy and paste. Not only do you have the lack of brain capacity to provide original commentary, you also must enjoying mocking those who want to support our troops? Are you serious? These brave and honorable men and women who volunteered to serve deserve to be lauded for their efforts, and Gov. Blunt is making an effort to do just that. By mocking his positive intentions (did you not read that he is member of the Naval Reserve??) and by mocking troop morale, you just prove how petty and embarrassing you and the rest of the disgruntled Left is. I’d love to see what you have to say - even if it is another pathetic copy and paste job - if Jay Nixon took a similar trip. I have a strong feeling your comments would look a whole lot different.
My son called today from Kosovo and told us of Matt Blunt’s visit and one of men assigned to him. My son Zack said that he was very sincere and apprieciative of the soldiers there. The soldiers from Missouri were glad to see someone from “home”
