From the floor: “Zero!”

I’m on the convention floor with the Missouri delegation during Rudy Giuliani’s speech.

Deafening shouts of “Zero! Zero!” surround me as the crowd mocks Barack Obama’s experience.

Lots of big Mo. GOP names here: John Danforth, Kenny Hulshof, Jim Talent, Matt Blunt and, wife Melanie.

Delegates seem energized.

Last week listening to the rough drubbing Obama and co. gave the Republicans, I was struck that they kept it focused on tangibles–but then they had a lot to work with given the past eight years.

Tonight, most of the attacks had to distort the record, which was reflected in the shouts of “zero.” For instance, Giuliani dug up the old canard about Obama’s “present” votes in the Illinois legislature although he knows full well that he is misrepresenting the situation. He belittled the rather impressive legislative record of Obama over the past three years although he knows better.

I guess, though, that Palin’s efforts to make her work on the Wasilla city council or mayor of saud city of 6000 somehow grander than Obama’s years negotiating the politically fraught job of community organizer or his eight years in the state legislature and his three + years in the U.S. senate was not so problematic since she could not possibly know better given her lack of experience.

With the possible exception of Sen. Danforth, all those you name above are likewise, big ZEROES.
