Governor candidates heading for first debate today
Republican Kenny Hulshof and Democrat Jay Nixon are set to square off in their first joint forum at 3:15 p.m. today in Columbia.
Also invited to participate: Libertarian Party nominee Andrew Finkenstadt and Constitution Party nominee Gregory E. Thompson.
The debate is expected to pack Fisher Auditorium in Gannett Hall at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. The event is being held as part of the festivities celebrating the 100th anniversary of the school’s founding.
The opening act — which has been moved up to 12:30 p.m. from the earlier announced time of 1:30 p.m. – will be a debate between the attorney general candidates, Republican Mike Gibbons and Democrat Chris Koster.
Political Fix will be there. Check back for updates.

Does anyone know if there are plans to televise this?
I’m at the point with all of this election coverage to seriously start looking at alternatives to the Democrats and Republicans. I want to see what these other two guys have to say.
Jeff, I will have my prepared remarks available on my web site as soon as I can transcribe the last minute changes. I also plan on expanding on the responses to the questions. Stay tuned. (Website link on my name.)
