Joyce on “Truth Squad”: Not about prosecuting people

St. Louis Circuit Jennifer Joyce has been caught in a dust-up over her presence on a “Truth Squad” for Barack Obama. Jennifer Joyce

For the background, see Jo Mannies’ post below.

Now, here is a statement from Joyce:

As a citizen, I believe that elections should be about issues.  I also have enormous respect for our First Amendment and freedom of speech.  My sole purpose in participating in this initiative is about getting truthful information to the voters.  This has never been or never will be about prosecuting people.

Clearly there are those who are attempting to twist the purpose of this initiative for their own benefit. This attack is a great example of how the truth is distorted in campaigns and what we’re trying to stand up against.

McCain = Bridge to Nowhere:

Your post, as devoid of fact though it was, is an excellent example of talk, if made of Obama, would get you at best sued, at worse arrested, as stated by the two area PA.

Yet you see nothing wrong.

Wonderful…

Everyone else: GREAT POSTS!

To Ms.Joyce and Mr. McCullough

Your personal belief is not at stake here. You are using the power of the office of your public position to coerce individuals to vote for Obama or to leave the impression that if they speak, write, campaign in any manner that the full weight of the law will descend upon them. No matter what you think, that is what your are conveying as result of your ill chosen path. There is a sign on your door which appears in the Clip which says it all.. Insuring that nothing which is derogatory about Obama seeps through the cordon of a phalanx of self appointed ministers of what constitutes allowable political speech is beyond the pale. Both of you an all others involved have injured the Constitution of this country and done a gross disservice to the people of Missouri. I respectfully ask each of you and any other members of law enforcement involved to resign immediately. I have sent a letter to the Department of Justice requesting whether your association as a law enforcement group constitutes a conspiracy under Title 18, part 1, chap 13. Conspiracy to Interfere with Civil Rights. If you do not understand the seriousness of your endeavor, you should not be in the job you are currently doing. God help us all, if people like yourselves, ever come to power in this country.

Hey Joyce:

Funny how the report talks about the Obama campaign asking law enforcement to “target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign.”

Gee, what do prosecutors do? If you call someone it is as a private citizen? Somehow I missed that part of the report. Did you and Bob send out a press release saying the report was wrong?

You and Bob will do fine working in Chicago. Their politics is right up your alley.

Hi, Missouri, I live in PA, and the Obama attorneys are all over our radio and TV stations threatening to sue if they play ads generated by the NRA about Obama’s history on gun control. The NRA has the facts to back up their ads, so we will see what happens, but I find their lawsuits very strange coming from a campaign whose ads in PA have either been filled with lies or have comments by McCain taken totally out of context, which is another form of lying. I am a Democrat voting straight Republican this year, as the thought of this Obama thug as POTUS chills me to the bone.

Is this lady elected? If she is I will start a fund for anyone running against her. Democratic or Republican because this is so over the top. I hope that any place that she speaks at according to her bio, shuts her down and never asks her to approach their groups again, and i will fund any protesters that will show up at any speach she makes!

So many 1st timers trying to start a fire.
Almost none of usual rowdies that that usually try to stink up this forum

To much of a coincidence I say - These 1st timers are paid posters, most likely for the McCain campaign
Paid to post in mass to show false outrage.

More false accusations
Lots of fake outrage
Try, try, try.
Type, type, type

It won’t work
Give up
He’s clean

The robots of the republican base must really be back on their heels at this point to be comparing Obama to Mussolini, democrats to brownshirts and referring to “gestapo tactics”. The sad thing is that people like you are the ones who see a leader (like Bush, now McCain…) and follow him without asking questions or digging deeper to know the truth. This Republican tendency is much more akin to fascism and with Bush you pushed this to new levels: Guantanamo Bay, torture, war without allies, wire tapping and reading our emails, “watch lists” and security cameras. And mercenary police forces like Blackwater, who were witnessed in action DOMESTICALLY after Hurricane Katrina. And you have the balls to call democrats fascists?

You should leave every one of the posts by James up because each one gives you a glimpse into the dark, slimy window of the missouri republican soul. I’ll just bet (like he claims) he never uses the “c” word. Probably only when he talks about women. Especially the educated ones. Thank you Jennifer and Bob for coming to the rescue of the victim of the right wing republican lie machine: the truth. Funny you people (posters from the campaign) don’t worry about real fascism when its perpetrated by Bush, Rove, Cheney, et al.

McSame has been putting out lies and half-truths about Obama for several months now. Bold faced out and out lies that even when they are proven wrong McSame still “approves this message” and allows the lies to go on.

I say go for it Jennifer! Go after the maverick and his moose queen. Right wing whack jobs are just unhappy because their Karl Rove methods are not going to go unchecked this time. We see through it this time.

What about Bush and his gestapo tactics? That’s a much bigger issue. Shh, they are checking this post as I send it.

Scott H. You have enough to worry about in Florida. Stay there and mind your own business. Freedom…dang man. How much hate can a person feel? You sound bitter and miserable. Go get some medication.

I agree with you Penelope. Leave his posts up. They will only serve as another reason why 8 years is enough.

Wow. How much hate can a person have in their heart? I’m thinking he must have been drunk. The unfortunate thing about James is that he can vote. Unless that is he is a felon. Which, from reading his post, he may very well be.
