Joyce on “Truth Squad”: Not about prosecuting people

St. Louis Circuit Jennifer Joyce has been caught in a dust-up over her presence on a “Truth Squad” for Barack Obama. Jennifer Joyce

For the background, see Jo Mannies’ post below.

Now, here is a statement from Joyce:

As a citizen, I believe that elections should be about issues.  I also have enormous respect for our First Amendment and freedom of speech.  My sole purpose in participating in this initiative is about getting truthful information to the voters.  This has never been or never will be about prosecuting people.

Clearly there are those who are attempting to twist the purpose of this initiative for their own benefit. This attack is a great example of how the truth is distorted in campaigns and what we’re trying to stand up against.

To Crusader-
Why don’t you head back into the hills where you come from, lift up the rock under which you were born, and crawl back under, marry your cousin, and shut your racist, no-business, born insecure, rat-soup eating mouth.

Where in the world did all the fascists come from? STL- I think you might be on to something. Something rotten on this blog and it stinks of republican operatives. I’m trying so hard not to use foul words for them… tempted to but holding back because it’s Sunday.

I am so disgusted by this, and disappointed. I sent Joyce, McCulloch, our state senator Claire and also our sheriff’s dept in Boone County an email last night telling them if they were involved in this type of police (gestapo) tactics, that they should be investigated. Now they will probably try to shut me up too.Obama says he is a different kind of politician, yes that is for sure, the worst kind. If you are so insecure, and can’t stand the heat of the campaign without trying to shut people up, you must have something to hide. Same tactics he used in Chicago to move up. Freddoso’s book is exactly right about Obama. Now we know who he really is.

> Where in the world did all the fascists come from?

Your pals are trying to use the threat of prosecution to stifle political dissent, and you have the nerve to call somebody else a fascist?

It’s truly amazing.

I have yet to hear one foul mouthed post from an Obama supporter. But I have now read at least 8 where a McCain supporter has used foul and offensive language.

You are just mad that Obama has taken a serious lead.

These out of towners will not haunt this blog after next week when all of this proves to be yet another ineffectual attempt to change the prevailing messages about the campaigns. These butt-inskies are not the story, no matter how much they wish it to be so. The story is that some elected and appointed officials are supporting Senator Obama, which may mean using their voices to come to his aid when McCain-Palin come after him with lies. Fact is, we should have had more (even one?) truth squads operating when Kerry got swiftboated in 2004. You have to speak truth to power, and the real effective truth messengers are those with some power of their own. I think truthfulness and a very healthy respect - even advocacy - for the truth are admirable qualities for prosecutors and law enforcement officials. I am glad to see some of our finest standing up for the truth.

So many Right Wing Rowdie (RWR) wackos hurling unfounded accusations like children throwing rocks.
o An influx of new handles.
o Most likely out of town’ers helping our local RWR’s.

o Nothing sticks, the rocks just bounce off because they have no basis of fact.
o Phony outrage, phony posts, phony posters
Zero impact

o The Right Wing Rowdie Groundhog Day
For Day = Today to 5Nov2008

- Get new rocks

- Throw rocks

- See rocks bounce off

- Bang head on ground

Next Day

Cheer President Elect Obama

It is totally inappropriate for Jennifer Joyce and Bob McCulloch to be on a political committee for Obama. Is this Joyce’s and McCulloch’s way of endorsing the voter fraud which ACORN has engaged in and likely will continue to engage in?
