Joyce on “Truth Squad”: Not about prosecuting people

St. Louis Circuit Jennifer Joyce has been caught in a dust-up over her presence on a “Truth Squad” for Barack Obama. Jennifer Joyce

For the background, see Jo Mannies’ post below.

Now, here is a statement from Joyce:

As a citizen, I believe that elections should be about issues.  I also have enormous respect for our First Amendment and freedom of speech.  My sole purpose in participating in this initiative is about getting truthful information to the voters.  This has never been or never will be about prosecuting people.

Clearly there are those who are attempting to twist the purpose of this initiative for their own benefit. This attack is a great example of how the truth is distorted in campaigns and what we’re trying to stand up against.

If political lies were a crime, Palin-McCain would do life without parole!

just out of curiosity … if Obama becomes President and DOESN’T lower taxes for 90% of Americans; or if Americans who make under $250,000 actually pay more taxes, from inheritance taxes, to gasoline taxes or any other taxes, will prosecutors then go after the candidate? Seems only fair.

I’m just not buying what Jennifer and her fellow thugs are selling. If this is about truth and justice, where is the concern about the flagrant lies on the part of the Obama campaign? What about the hideous and depraved smears against Sarah Palin? These cretins in MO need to get a clue.

Meanwhile I’m enjoying donating to the NRA and American Issues Project!

Tim Hogan’s links to dangerousintersection.org is fine if you first keep in mind that it is self-avowed left of center propaganda. It uses Huffingtonpost as a SOURCE OF INFORMATION! Good Grief! I’m a poster on Huffington and the stuff I see there boggles my mind.

If people want FACTS as opposed to FICTION or LIES, you have to go to analysts such as:
politifact.com http://www.politifact.com/
the fact checker http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/
http://www.factcheck.org/

The type of fact checking these sites do is clearly spelled out, emphasizing primary sources, direct contacts with officials or people who would know … like the original person who said it, etc.

The ability to see the difference between a site like Tim Hogan’s link and these fact checkers is critical to help people differentiate fact from opinion.

Please, please use these sites. You’ll soon see that McCain and Obama are tit for tat when it comes to distortion. And Hillary started it all with Media Matters. Sorry, but lying isn’t a Republican thing. And Obama ain’t for changing none of it!!

I just want to point out something about D Walker types posting here.

“Aren’t you guys being STUPIDLY HYSTERICAL ABOUT NOTHINGS?
Th Demoratic TRUTH SQUAD HAS BEEN OPEN AND ABOVE BOARD about their activities here! It IS NOT AT ALL of the same spirit of the TRUE AND REAL voter intimidation of the infamous Republicans.

The language mechanics here might be a tip off that these are not locals or Americans posting. It would be interesting to have this site do a study of the IP addresses of posters like D.Walker and find out where in the world they are coming from and who their Internet Service Provider is.

I like topix.net/forum for instance because they include that information for each poster. You see me as posting from San Diego, CA. But at least you know where I’m coming from even if I never gave that information. No one can hide that they are from Toronto which would be a big source for these pro-Obama comments or even as far as Kenya which is rumored to be another big site for pro-Obama posters. I’ve heard Obama has major campaign funds going into saturating sites like this with disinformation and smears. These people usually use bully tactics to intimidate. You can see the words “evil” and “stupid” in the post above. Intelligent people just give the facts, never mind all the character defamation.

I’ve noticed that my local papers have been infiltrated. All the local posters know each other. We use lots of local references and have been around the town a time or two. But when an article comes up about McCain, for instance, suddenly the strangest new names come up and the language becomes downright offensive. I’ve seen whole pages of comments without a single name I recognize, all screaming unbelievable garbage about McCain.

Watch for it. Quite interesting to see phenomena like this occurring. I’ve been using the internet and logging in many sites since 1995 and what’s happening is creepy.

McCain’s not the source of this. This is different. And my logical, intelligent friends who are voting for Obama need to explain it to me.

Regardless, why hasn’t this been in the paper? We know the Post has a left wing editorial position, but they are up front about that. I can live with someone who is honest about it. But, for the news dept. not to even report the story, even if they don’t believe it, is irresponsible and shows a slant. The fact that it has become a National story requires that it be covered, even if your goal is to discredit it. Almost an entire week has gone by and nothing. Journalism as we know it is dead. Our local paper ingores a story that is now being reported by the MSM and is featured on most of the National news blogs is amazing. This will be another embaressing chapter in St. Louis politics this week as the National media visit St. Louis.

This is nothing short of stunning. I think that every single prosecution, indictment and arrest that the Circuit Attorneys office and the Sheriff’s dept. were involved in since Obama became the presumptive nominee should be investigated by the Justice Dept. for political motivations

” But when an article comes up about McCain, . . and the language becomes downright offensive. ”

Generalizations are not credible, links can be - give us some links

Here’s an example from this very forum

“I just deleted three posts by “James” for using foul and obscene language. . . “Sorry to all that “James” comments were on our site for several hours.”

Fellow posters

o “James” was one of about 35 1st time posters yesterday, all of whom spouted the same rhetoric and phony outrage of the Right Wing Rowdies(RWR) - A band of posters that increase the noise-to-signal ratio in an effort to drown out and discourage legitimate posters on this board by repetition of derogatory unsubstantiated accusations over and over.

This is commonly known as propaganda.

o James apparently is the poster child of the RWR’s as he managed to use virtually all 4-letter English words known to mankind in his 3 posts. I saw his posts before — Jo Mannies removed them.

Since when is it appropriate for law enforcement to use their position to work for a political campaign?
Will Joyce ‘truth squad’ for McCain, seeing as how even the NYTimes admits that Obama is running untruthful and misleading ads on McCain?
The brownshirts are here people.

And where is Jay Nixon, the attorney general, running for governor, on this matter? Does he have an opinion, or is he also on the truth squad? I guess he will only work for you if you pledge your allegiance to the democrat ideology of crushing dissent.

I am wondering if Joyce is also going to arrest PD’s Deb Peterson and the wife of VP of the Science Center Amy Gwin for the false statements she made in collaboration with Peterson about Gov. Palin under Ethics Violiations for character assasination. I will call Joyce’s office today to find out.

Can you imagine what Eric Mink of the PD would have done if this was Catherine Hanaway abusing the power of her office? OMG!
