McCain-Obama battle over Missouri “Truth Squad”

Special to the Post-Dispatch
  • Email this
  • Print this

With the Missouri polls showing a dead heat between Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama, every campaign move is igniting scrutiny.

That’s the backdrop over a two-day dust-up that is attracting local TV coverage, and has even ignited a Web fight between the Drudge Report and the Daily Kos.

At issue is a new Obama “Truth Squad” formed in the state.

(As an aside, please note that both sides have “Truth Squads” in numerous states, under numerous titles. McCain’s campaign has an Honest and Open Election Committee, whose Missouri members include former Sen. John Danforth and U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, and another state McCain group monitoring any Democratic jabs at Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.)

Obama’s Missouri Truth Squad members include St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer and St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch, among others.

The inclusion of such officials has led to Gov. Matt Blunt, among other Republicans, to accuse the Obama camp of planning “to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.”

That tack was repeated in a conference call Saturday, where Republican National Committee deputy chairman Frank Donatelli said that the issue was the inclusion of law-enforcement officials on Obama’s squad. He called for Joyce, McCulloch, et al to step down.

In a statement Saturday (issued from the governor’s office), Blunt went further and contended that the state Obama campaign and its allies, including U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill “have attached the stench of police state tactics…”

His assertion was that the squad might prosecute people deemed to have made inaccurate or inappropriate claims against Obama.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them,” Blunt said in the statement. “Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

Obama’s national campaign manager David Plouffe said Saturday that Truth Squads simply monitor attacks and refute them.

Later, state communications director Debbie Mesloh issued a statement that called it “the height of absurdity” for  the GOP to contend that the Obama squad planned to go to court or jail critics.

She contended that Blunt, Donatelli, et al are out “to deceive voters about the role of respected Missourians across the state who want to see this election be about the truth, not false attacks like the ones we’ve seen today.

“Barack Obama’s Truth Squad is comprised of members of the community who – on their own time – are dedicated to raising the level of discourse in this campaign…,” she added.

By the way, a quick surf of the Internet found a McCain Truth Squad in New Hampshire, formed last January, that included several public officials with prosecutorial powers, including the state attorney general.

However, state Republicans have sent out a list of dozens of officeholders — who are lawmakers, not law enforcers — who they said make up the bulk of McCain’s Truth Squads around the country.

FINALLY, after several days of silence, you guys are covering this story! The fascist intimidation tactics of the Obama Goon Squad are absolutely outrageous! Bob Mulloch and Jennifer Joyce ought to be ashamed of themselves, blurring the line between their prosecutorial offices and their political activism for one candidate. Disgraceful! This is an assault on the First Amendment.

“Bob Mulloch. . .” Make that “McCulloch,” of course. I’m so worked up about this, I can’t even “C” straight! Don’t throw me in jail, Herr McCulloch, for misspelling your name!

The worst part to me is that the Obama supporters I have brought this up with don’t seem to care. This country has gotten way too partisan when support for your preferred candidate trumps your love of free speech.

I’m now embarrassed to have a five-year stint in one of the “truth squad” member’s offices on my resume. The last thing any of these Democrat officeholders wants is the TRUTH about Obama to be told: his militant Islam and Marxist education as a youth, his affiliation with terrorists, his political corruption, his shady financial dealings, his hatred for the USA and its military, his incompetence and his inarticulateness. For shame, Boyer, Joyce, McCulloch, et al.! Read the Constitution once in a while, especially the First Amendment.

As someone who origianaly supported Obama, I say no more! This is not the only strong arm tactics Obama and his campain have been doing-Its going on in Ohio, ect(NRA ads) as well as ads that mention ayers. Obama is too overly confident if he thinks we (Democrats) will not take offense at these things. I think he forgets that alot of Democrats are God fearing, small town folks who hunt and fish and are patriotic. We are what make or break elections. If he doesnt believe in free speech or have faith in those that vote for him to decide for themselves what they believe, then perhaps he does not deserve our vote either. Sad, sad day for America:(

Jo,

You are misrepresnting what the television report and those interview stated.

It is true that both sides have “truth squads.”

What is very different about this, and other similar actions made by Obama’s campaign else where is the attempt very least appear to legally threaten people who run advertisements contrary to what they deam as “fact” via cease and dissest orders or request for prosecution.

In this case the report specifically said “The Barack Obama campaign is asking Missouri law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign.”

That is a far cry from your run of the mill “truth squad.” We are talking about the abuse of Missouri law to intimidate political opponents. No ifs, ands or buts.

The truth is, if the same report was run about the McCain campaign or Republicans in this state their name would be mud by now - and you and the Post-Dispatch would be in the thick of it. I would add that would be only right given the situation.

The fact that the Post-Dispatch refuses to discuss the issue in context and raise an alert of any sort speaks volumes of its bias.

I would hope maybe Tony Messenger might have rubbed off on you guys a little bit. Maybe Im wrong.

Obama said, “My Name is African Swahili” - NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and ‘Baraka’ (from which Barack came) means ‘blessed’ in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama. Barack Hussein Obama is not half black. If elected, he would be the first Arab-American President, not the first black President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side and 43.75% Arabic and 6.2 5% Afri c an Negro from his father’s side. While Barack Hussein Obama’s father was from Kenya , his father’s family was mainly Arabs.. Barack Hussein Obama’s father was only 12.5% African Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father’s birth certificate even states he’s Arab, not African Negro).

Banning signs on a college campus? Having a “Truth Squad” attack the first amendment right to freedom of speech in an ad? Is this America? Where has the 1st Amendment gone for all Americans? These “Democrat” tactics that the Obama campaign are using sound like something straight out of Russia or 1030 Germany! This should terrify all Americans as to why this is happening and what will be done next by them!

Last night, Obama denied voting for a bill that called for increased taxes on people making as little as $42,000 a year, as McCain accused him of doing. Obama did in fact vote for a budget resolution that called for higher federal income tax rates on a person who earned as little as $42,000 per year.

This is a direct quote from the KMOV report:

“The Barack Obama campaign is asking Missouri law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign.”

http://www.kmov.com/video/index.html?nvid=285793&shu=1

The report also mentions several ’sheriffs and prosecuters across MO’ who will be working on this.

It boggles my mind that some people seem to think this ok, or are spinning it into something different. Actually, it makes my blood run cold.

This is how it starts! This attempt at silencing critics of obama is so transparent, it’s a wonder you can’t see the ’stasi’ on the other side.

Truth Squad run by law enforcement. God Help Us!

More very interesting reading:

September 26, 2008 – Barack Obama is now using local law enforcement officials to carry out his campaign of legal intimidation by assembling a group of high-ranking Missouri police officials and prosecutors – including St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCullough and City of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce – to identify and target anyone the campaign determines is producing “misleading” political advertisements.

“This is an outrageous and shocking attempt by the Obama campaign to again employ Stalinist, police state tactics against those who dare to disagree with Barack Obama,” said Ed Martin, American Issues Projects president. “I am frankly stunned to see public officials like McCullough and Joyce abusing their official prosecutorial positions to serve as attack dogs for a national political campaign. I am quite certain Missourians elected these individuals to enforce the laws and arrest criminals, not to throw people in jail for daring to practicing free speech.

“The Obama campaign continues to provide a chilling preview of what would happen to political freedom in an Obama administration.”

This new effort is only the most recent attempt by the Obama campaign to crack down on free speech. Obama’s lawyers twice demanded the Department of Justice investigate and prosecute the American Issues Project, its officers, board of directors, and donors. The campaign also threatened stations running American Issues Project’s ad in an unsuccessful attempt to compel them to pull the spot, and ran its own ad in response.

Notably, this ad failed to dispute a single fact the American Issues Project has put forth.
About American Issues Project

American Issues Project is a 501(c)4 organization representing a coalition of conservative activists committed to raising important issues that deserve deeper examination given their impact on policy and politics. In accordance with federal law, American Issues Project only solicits and accepts contributions from individuals and not from any business corporation. About the Ad

Let me get this straight. St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer and St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch are going to silence free speech?

Well, as an attorney here in California with offices at the Plaza in Kansas City, my colleagues and I can’t wait to test your little gassy expose’.

Ms. Joyce and Messer’s McCulloch and Boyer, we will be coming to your State. Try this on us or anyone we observe being harassed and we’ll take their case Pro bono first and second, Jefferson County does not posses the amounts of money needed to cover the judicial events coming your way. Every attorney from here to New York will be testing your little charade just because. My firm will be one of them. You issued this dilatory and faux intimidating challenge and we have gladly accepted.

Hey I have an idea! How about we get to the real issues instead of these ridiculous Obama=Osama crap. Not to mention some of the most deceitful “ads” if you can even call them ads are boring me and not only upsetting me but honestly making me laugh at what this “great nation” is coming to. Young generations are told to not even think about having social security because of this mess government has created. The baby boom generation is just about to retire in the masses, the “war” is still going on, and now they want to use 700 billion to save corrupt selfish millionaires? Am I missing something? Stop the name calling and get to the real issues. What are you going to do for my generation and how are you going to clean up this mess you are leaving for me and the future generations?

Why are Republicans such HYPOCRITES?

Did you Repubicans miss this paragraph below in Jo Mannies post?

“By the way, a quick surf of the Internet found a McCain Truth Squad in New Hampshire, formed last January, that included several public officials with prosecutorial powers, including the state attorney general.”

— D. Walker
10:42 pm September 27th, 2008

Look at all the Republican whiners trying to create a fake controversey because all the polls are tipping dramatically in favor of Obama/Biden. Maybe this will be the “game changer” they keep looking for to save this pathetic farse of a campaign.

It is kind of funny to hear all these torture-happy GOPers get all in snit about constitutional rights. Hilarious.

Hey, goofballs. The First Amendment does not protect false or misleading speech. This is why, for example, the state can prosecute false advertising, fraud and the like. Therefore, if you use the public airwaves to disseminate an ad that is demonstratably false, it is not protected by the first amendment. Admittedly, if you are dealing with a public official the ad has to show a reckless diregard for its falsity, but if that can be shown, then the ad is simply not protected speech.

That said, can any one of you give me any evidence that anyone has been prosecuted by an “truth squad” here in Missouri (or by McCain’s truth squad in NH for that matter) or intmidated in any way from spouting lies. Looks like you guys are managing just fine.

Let me give you an easy example of this whole truth vs. false thing so even your Rush-addled brains can grasp it. Let;s say I were to run an ad saying that McCain is an adulterer who left his crippled first wife for a beer-heiress in order to further his political career. Now that would be a true and well-documented statement and therefore fully-protected by the First Amendment. However, if I were to run an ad saying that Sarah Palin was possessed with evil spirits, that would clearly be false because we all know she had a preacher lay hands on her and exorcise those spirits back in 2005. I mean we all saw that on utube. So that statement would not be protected by the First Amendment.

Well, at least Ed Martin finally got a “real” job with the American Issues Project after he royally screwed up with Blunt’s email gate.

Both parties should not use elected officials or officers of the courts. The “dust up” is good. It shows we are sensitive to preserving our freedoms. The level of anger in this campaign is getting frightening. Its reminiscent of the pre-Civil War tensions. How little does our society have to change for us to devolve into a collection of warring Balkan states. I pray this official is sincere in her statements. If not, I am going to pray some more.

The difference between other McCain Truth Squads with law enforcement officials as members is that the McCain campaign DID NOT “ask law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign.”

This post is dishonest by using the moral equivalence argument comparing what the two campaigns are doing.

Anyone watching the report on KMOV and not thinking Obama is trying to stifle ads against him is already in the tank for Obama (ahem St Louis Post-Dispatch). So of course why should dear Ms Mannies be upset.

The Post Disgrace is now an apologist for a fascistic attempt to intimidate free political speech in Missouri. I never thought I would see such a lowpoint. Now we have a one party corrupt government in St. Louis that has been a miserable failure for decades, and the human garbage in the press and government are colluding to bring us “liberalism” which looks more and more like fascism every year. Maybe the Post Disgrace could do some articles on vote fraud in St. Louis.

Jo Mannies — “I am not taking sides as to who is right or wrong.”

Our democratic process will not work if our press refuses to distinguish between “spinning” opponents’ political positions and employing ***law enforcement officials*** to ***TARGET*** anyone who “lies or runs a misleading TV ad” during a presidential campaign. There is a choice here of standing against intimidation and becoming complicit in it.

Annoyed: This is a real issue. This is a candidate trying to silence free speech-one of our most precious and prized freedoms. I’ve seen plenty of candidates get upset by what’s said about them, but I’ve never seen a candidate directly try to silence people and advertisements. This isn’t a new thing for Obama, unfortunately.

D. Walker: Thank you for fully exposing yourself as the non-thinking Kool-Aid drinker you are. I don’t have a problem with elected officials-even prosecutors-openly supporting a candidate.

What I have a problem with is when such officials openly state that they’ll be taking up cases to the fullest extent of the law when they hold such positions. They openly imply that they won’t take up cases to the fullest extent if the “misinterpretation” goes the other way.

Much ado about nothing, IMO. Can anyone site one instance in which a McCain supporter has been “strong armed” by this Truth Squad? And for those McCain supporters, if it were McCain’s Truth Squad we were talking about would you be as outraged?

A lot of charges have been made as to Obama’s positions, I’d highly recommend a visit to http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/factchecking_debate_no_1.html to see how BOTH Candidates twisted the facts to serve their argument during the debate.

As for Obama’s tax plan, here it is contrasted with McCain’s (note that if you make $112,000 and under you will get a significant tax break under Obama…he will put a decent chunk of money in the pockets of 81% of Americans to spend in the marketplace, which will benefit ALL income levels, and will help boost the economy):

……………… MCCAIN …………. OBAMA

You are a Nazi.
We have a First Amendment in this country.
You have absolutely no business intimidating or threatening anyone who runs political advertising, at any time, concerning a political issue or a political candidate.
What you are doing is wrong, on its face. It is also obvious that you are partisan, as you obviously will not subject the lies that Obama tells to the same Brown-Shirt tactics you are threatening against McCain supporters.
You are unfit for public office.

My reporting dealt with what various officials or political leaders on both sides told me, plus some general background about Truth Squads.

I’m not taking sides as to who is right or who is wrong.

But that is at the very heart of the matter, Ms. Mannies.

The “truth squad” as reported was not your run of the mill political machine function. We are talking about the abuse of Missouri law enforcement positions at the very least to intimidate political opponents. At worst we are talking about Sedition.

The fact which you take such a “neutral” position (and it is not neutral by any stretch of the imagination) as I said before speaks volumes and should make anyone concerned.

If Republicans were doing this I am sure we would be seeing a different response - and rightfully so given the seriousness of what we are seeing.

That bias and lack of action by the Post-Dispatch (and other media outlets) shows that Democrats can pretty much do what ever they wish to. That apparently includes abusing the legal system and political office at will.

I am guess its okay, though, because its for the One amirite?

I pray that Missourians see through this for what it is.

This is disingenuous. McCain has not tried to intimidate anyone with prosecution, as Obama is doing.

This sounds like an abuse of power by Gov Blunt.

On Their Own Time - NOT Illegal

Blunt said he has “exposed plans.” He does not site any incident of actual treats to anyone.

Frank Donatelli, deputy chairman of the Republican National Committee:

http://tinyurl.com/4anoxc

In a telephone interview with the News-Leader, Donatelli admitted the Democratic prosecutors “haven’t specifically said” they would use their prosecutorial powers on Obama’s behalf.”

I watched the video. There was no statement from the interviewed individuals to indicate they planned to doing anything in their official capacity of enforcing laws.

Matt Blunt is a sleaze looking for a job in the McCain administration.

Sen. Claire McCaskill is too smart to do anything that stupid.

So many Right Wing Rowdie (RWR) wackos hurling unfounded accusations like children throwing rocks.
o An influx of new handles.
o Most likely out of town’ers helping our local RWR’s.

o Nothing sticks, the rocks just bounce off because they have no basis of fact.
o Phony outrage, phony posts, phony posters
Zero impact

o The Right Wing Rowdie Groundhog Day
For Day = Today to 5Nov2008

- Get new rocks

- Throw rocks

- See rocks bounce off

- Bang head on ground

Didn’t Obama start this trend in Jan. 2008 with his Truth Squads looking at HIllary Clinton’s disinformation. Propaganda is alive and well in America. Truth is a particularly slippery subject for all these people and Obama is front and center in his spin campaign. The guy’s a Chicago Machine puppet with a Campaign Manager from the Soprano State. Who are the fools here?
I think the real issue is what is the appropriate place for a public servant as in sheriff or prosecutor. Can these people place party politics above the good of the whole? And if the good of the whole to hear the truth is what they are after, then under no circumstances are they going to play favorites. There are plenty of organizations out there who look for the “truth”. politifact.com factcheck.org and the fact checker at Washington Post http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/ Communicate these to people and encourage them to hold all politicians accountable. Or is it really about choosing the better Liar over the other?

I’d like to see some control of the lies and inuendo on both sides so that voters can actually get the truth. Not interested in intimidation but some regulation for both would be nice. Obama certainly isn’t shy to tell falsehoods about McCain either. This would make more sense if he weren’t telling falsehoods himself.

My hunch is you are a paid poster - paid to post the slime you and your fellow posters vomit, consume and regurgitate.
I searched through about 60 forums from the last 30 days of posting at these PD political forums
o Surprise, surprise - This is your first post - at 4:04 am September 29th, 2008 - 2:04 am pst. In another forum your posted again at 6:03 am September 29th, claiming you were posting from San Diego. That post would have been made at 4:03am San Diego time.
o Hmm, posting from San Diego at 2:04am and 4:03am.
o Kinda fishy
o I guess you start your day job mighty early or your short bio is bunk, just like the trash you post.

— Mary F. - whoever you really are, and where ever you really are
o It’s pretty obvious that you are a new name here posting with many news names solely for profit by executing your orders from the slime wing of the Republican Party.

Fellow posters
o - Mary follows about 35 1st time posters from yesterday, all of whom spouted the same rhetoric and phony outrage of the Right Wing Rowdies(RWR) - A band of posters that increase the noise-to-signal ratio in an effort to drown out and discourage legitimate posters on this board by repetition of derogatory unsubstantiated accusations over and over - a technique commonly known as propaganda.
o Tip - the new posters do not engage in any discussion with other posters, they just post garbage, over and over. No attempt to legitimize any of their vile, just stuff their handlers have puked up for them to post on a forum

I know, right? What kind of fascist tries to sue people just because they’re making provably false, defamatory statements?

Oh, right. That’s called “slander”, and it has a long history of being legally actionable in this country.

Look, no one is going to sue you if you say “Barack Obama’s policies are wrong, and here’s why!” No one is going to sue you if you trot out some stupid line about “experience”.

If you start -making things up-, like him being a “secret Muslim” or…I dunno, what IS the right-wing talking point now? That he secret feeds on the blood of infants?…anyway, if you make up stuff like that, then yeah, there should be consequences. “Truth” is not something you simply get to define as it suits your whims.

“I know, right? ‘

Gold star example of a post from the radical right masturading as a post from the left.
Sneaky way to insert their sleazy code words they want to remind the undecided voters about.

No desire to engage in a real exchange of ideas
Just wants to insert toxic ideas in a subtle way.

To The Moderator

RULES OF THE ROAD
” So we’re asking for your help. In the spirit of that free exchange of ideas, keep the conversation clean and respectful. If you see something objectionable, please send us an e-mail.”

I strongly recommend the Post Dispatch review the content of all these online forums.
I am an experienced poster here to recognize the few “regular” posters style.

During the last several days the tone and style of the overwhelming number of posts has changed dramatically especially in this forum and those I’ve to below.

I believe these forums have been infiltrated by paid posters with no desire to allow any exchange of ideas, rather a desire only to disrupt and post their toxic material in such volume as to discourage legitimate posters from even trying to participate.

These many new posters provide content I interpret as coming from the extreme right. Their tactics also include using handles with unusual sounding names in posts supporting Obama. So they post toxic extreme right material and some that sound left but include well known code words the extreme right uses to slime their opponents.

A setup post on their intent was made by — Mary F. at 6:03 am September 29th, 2008 in this forum. It’s pretty easy to spot their posts as they rarely engage with any other posters on the board.

Moderator, review the contents of this board and consider if this forum has been high jacked by a band of internet thugs supporting a national interest.

Just another Chicago political machine thug tactic. If you want the truth the whole truth please report it. Went to a church for 20 years with a very questionable pastor who just one day out lashed at America. But he was your mentor right? Born a Muslim? Middle name Hussein? Voted 96% of the time with party? Supports late term abortion? Rezko? Fannie and Freddie CEO’s on your campaign? Voting record? ACORN? WOODS FOUNDATION? Big ears? When was the last time race was a ISSUE other then when you and your supporters mention it? ERE marks of a million a day? i don’t know but there is a long list of questionable topics concerning BHO and they out weigh a good speech in 2004. I will be glad to post my address for the enforcers to come a knocking. Thank You

Good work detective. How is it you can spot a phony moonbat so easily, but probably have never met a real conservative? Any minute now I know your going to give us this list of “well known code words”

“It’s pretty easy to spot their posts as they rarely engage with any other posters on the board.”

Just because some posters dont wish to participate in your moonbat circle jerk, doesnt mean they dont want to engage in discussion.

“Moderator, review the contents of this board and consider if this forum has been high jacked by a band of internet thugs supporting a national interest.”

Why dont you just send a list to Jennifer Joyce, she can sort it out and prosecute the offenders. Its not like we have any other crimes in St Louis to deal with.

“What the holy hell are you talking about? Are you the Blog Cop now? You suffer from delusions of grandeur.’

o Nice try but it won’t sell. Besides, I’m the second one to mention it, as I cited in my post to the moderator, a fact you conveniently ignored. The first was — Mary F. at 6:03 am September 29th, 2008.
o Where’s your outrage about the post by Mary F. Scroll up to read it.

o I posted several times about my suspicions, Scroll up to see those. Seeing no change in behavior, I reread the Rules of the Road. I did not see a way to contact the moderator off line so posted to get the moderators attention. I stated my suspicions and pointed out what I felt was the evidence. I suggested the moderator review the posts. It’s up to the moderator to take whatever action is deemed appropriate, I’m just a casual observer.

“I believe you are an idiot, and I have as much proof as you do that the board is infiltrated by paid posters.”
o Actually I expect you have more proof than me that the board has been infiltrated. Paid or volunteers, doesn’t really make any difference because the intent is the same - disrupt attempts to exchange via legitimate posting by flooding the forum with vile, viscous posts filled with outright and subtle accusations and lies. Reduce or stamp out the flow of info that counters the McCain campaign’s misconceptions and lies about Obama.

Good work detective. How is it you can spot a phony moonbat so easily, but probably have never met a real conservative? Any minute now I know your going to give us this list of “well known code words”
o Kind of a rough way to congratulate me but I accept your pat on the back.
o As for conservative my best friend is a conservative, pretty dug in and civil in our political discussions.
o Don’t be coy, you know the code words like a pro.

“Just because some posters dont wish to participate in your moonbat circle jerk, doesnt mean they dont want to engage in discussion.”
o Not just some but the overwhelming majority of the newbies. In addition, there’s also posting with references to other posters that did not post on this forum.
o Kinda fishy.

-> I thought I knew all the political terms but this new one, circle jerk, has me confused.
-> Please tell me how it relates to your political life.
-> Then tell me how it relates to your social life

“Why dont you just send a list to Jennife Joyce, she can sort it out and prosecute the offenders. Its not like we have any other crimes in St Louis to deal with.”
o I’ll leave that to you. Perhaps you can get her to count it as your community service for the week.
o More false outrage - you know, it’s a duck.

- if it looks like a duck
- and quacks like a duck
- then it’s a duck
I’m confident I know what’s happening.

McCain Supporters

Pep Talk

o I know it must be disheartening to see so much daylight between candidates in the polls.

o It must have been particularly frustrating last week when McCain tried a power play on the debates, then blinked and participated. Just the spine I want in my #1 sitting across the table from Vladimir Putin - a #1 that blinks over showing up for a debate.

o Then there’s debate#1, where Obama took McCain to school despite the 100 minute McCain snub. Oh, that’s another thing. I want a #1 that looks right into the bad guys eyes, rather than somebody that doesn’t even have the backbone to look at a United States Senator during a 100 minute debate.

Hope That Helped

So the ‘wittle baby Obama needs a truth squad. Wah wah. I hear the wittle baby crying. Give the wittle baby Obama a pacifier and his bottle. Oh, no, give the wittle baby Barry his wittle truth squad. Does wittle baby Barry needs his diapy changed ? Oh, the widddle, wimpy baby Barry. Here’s your truth squad, wittle Baby Barry.

Give me a flipping break. With his head tilted to the side, and his constant whistling of his “S’s”, can you SEE the wimpy Obama standing up to Iran, North Korea, and the terrorists?? Will wittle Barry ask the terrorists for his wittle truth squad ?

Can you see Ronald Reagan, Dwight Eisenhauer, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Richard Nixon, Abraham Lincoln, etc. asking for a truth squad? They were real men. They didn’t need a freakin truth squad. They were able to handle the heat. I guess they don’t make men like that anymore. Now we have a ‘man’ running for president who needs a ‘truth squad.’ My dad fought in two wars. He was a real man. He woudn’t have asked for a stupid truth squad.

Obama is a wimpy phony. He spreads lies about everyone else, but doesn’t like when it’s turned on him. Typical Liberal phony.

Little Barry Obama reminds me of the kid on the playground who no one liked or wanted to play with because he was such a stuck up wittle goody two shoes, only out for himself. The reality is that wittle Barry just needed to get his butt kicked around the playground a few times like the rest of us did. Oh well, maybe the Chinese or Iranians or North Koreans will do it for him.

I don’t see the problem.

Obama and his supporters use voter intimidation to get votes in the St. Louis area… the poll results from the area are disqualified from being counted come November.

Simple solution, really.

— malclave
3:48 pm October 1st, 2008

My issue with this is simple:

Why are they only taking this stance against false claims made against Senator Obama?

I like the idea of having an organization out there that checks out the claims made for or against political candidates and then presents the facts to the people (all be it the tiny minority of the public that actually pays attention). That was what the media used to do and what Factcheck.org tries to do now.

What I don’t like is seeing my own elected County Prosecutor (whom I supported and voted for) using his official position in this fashion.

If this “truth squad” is not going to address the various lies out there about Senator McCain as well as Senator Obama then they are nothing more than the local propagandist and my next vote for County Prosecutor will reflect that.
