Mo GOP women accuse Dems of being sexist with the lipstick jokes

Susie Eckelcamp, vice chair of the Missouri Republican Party, participated in a conference call this afternoon — along with a regional spokeswoman for the McCain-Palin campaign and a spokesman for the Republican National Committee — to decry what they call “Barack Obama’s smears against Governor Sarah Palin.”

Their call was followed by a news conference at the GOP campaign office in Maryland Heights held by the Missouri Women for McCain Coalition.

Both activities were aimed at jabbing the Democrats over their repeated disparaging use of the word “lipstick.”

In particular, Eckelcamp and McCain spokeswoman Wendy Reimann (joined by RNC spokesman Chris Taylor) asserted that Obama’s comment Tuesday about “lipstick on a pig’‘ was “very offensive” and clearly aimed at GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Eckelcamp said that the statement was also evidence of sexism.

Obama and his campaign say the context of his comment dealt with proposals of GOP presidential nominee John McCain, and were not aimed at Palin at all.

Taylor contended that the context — less than two weeks after Palin used her own “lipstick” joke in her convention speech — made clear the Obama’s comment was aimed at her.

He said the chuckles from Obama’s audience clearly indicated they saw a Palin link.

Taylor also criticized U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan’s “lipstick” moment at Tuesday’s event featuring Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden. Taylor said he doubted that Carnahan would have made such a comment if McCain’s running mate was Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, instead of Palin.

The trio was asked about the Youtube videos that show McCain using the same “lipstick on a pig” comment in reference to the healthcare proposal of then-Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton.

The Republicans say the context was different.

Here’s one of the videos:

It is clear that the hiring of Karl Rove is at work here. The McCain folks are desperate to divert attention from the real issues that will drive this election. This phrase has been used by nearly all of the republics leadership, in fact McCain’s former press secretary wrote a book with the phrase as its title. I would take a little more stock in what the republics women said if they were as adamant about any sexism pointed at Hillary Clinton, including when at a McCain event an audience member called Sen. Clinton a bit** and McCain just laughed it off, classy.

This is what politics has become. Nothing but a gotcha game over crap that means absolutely nothing. Both sides are looking for it, if not instigating it. Childish crap and we would all be better off without it.

I liked obama calling Palin a “moose shooter.” That was actually funny.

I beg to differ with the statement that both sides are equally invested in the gotcha game. Obama is still talking about issues like the economy, jobs and healthcare. The ditto heads would much rather talk about the pig’s lipstick over and over and over and over again. We all know what they have been doing for the past 8 years and what it has cost us as a nation. They can’t even begin to put lipstick on that pig. The politics of daily diversion is their only hope.

Penelope, THe Chosen One isnt talking about issues, he is saying everything is spending all day saying McCain = Bush. THats it, all his talk about change, all his promises of hope and his campaign comes down to running against someone who isnt on the ballot.

Its just like the Republicans to goff at a comment Barak Obama said simply to get a rise out of their brainwashed party members. Ladies please, don’t get your panties in such a bunch! Take a deep breath, realize that what he said was NOT an insult towards your “woman of the moment”, and relax. This election will come down to a 9 seated jury just like the last one..and most likely McCain will win. Personally though, I believe that most of us St. Louisians make less than 1 million a year. So if you aren’t with Barak(who wants us, the middle and lower earners..in otherwords the MAJORITY) to get some tax breaks and live a little higher on the HOG,(haha) then you have to ask yourself this….Why would you vote for a party that consistantly gives the tax breaks to those that truly dont need them..while the rest of us(Most Republicans too)count every penny to make sure we dont lose our homes in this TERRIBLE economy. FYI…When Clinton left office, we had a surplus of 62 Billion..and now this country is so in debt, that we are LITERALLY selling it off piece by piece to other countries. You who voted for Bush should be ASHAMED of yourselves….period.

You can put lipstick on a pig. You can try to teach it do whistle. You can try to teach it to dance. All of these are futile and don’t change at thing, and, they annoy the pig.

My apologies to Mark Twain.

“This is what politics has become. Nothing but a gotcha game over crap that means absolutely nothing.”

That’s right Lunacy, and the PD is right in the gutter with it all. They have printed every DNC talking point that has been sent with absolutely no verification of the truth. Can we get any news about Obama or Biden?

Missouri GOP women, when will your vp candidate agree to a press conference? If she did, she could tell us herself if she was offended by a remark not directed to her at all. After all, she’s on record complaining that Hillary was a whiner and “it does us no good”. I’m sure she understood the usage of that old adage, considering her running mate used it to describe Hillary’s health plan. She should call a press conference tomorrow to tell us how she feels.

Like any VP candidate, she should have done that the day after she was picked, but of course, that didn’t happen. She needs time to prepare and get comfortable. I hope, god forbid, if they win, world leaders will giver her time to prepare.

John McCain use the exact same phrase “like putting lipstick on a pig” when he referred to Hillary’s economic plan.

I’d pass this along to the media, but they won’t listen to little ol’ me.

I’m serious. Watch the video CLICK HERE

And I’m a McCain supporter. The GOP Women need to smarten up.
