Nixon — as AG, not candidate — takes on political robo-calls

If you haven’t already, check out this story on the mother ship, where Jay Nixon — acting as the state’s Attorney General, and not as the Democratic nominee for governor — pledged to prosecute campaigns behind illegal automated calls.

Political “robo-calls” are exempt from the state’s “no-call list,” but are required to include information about who paid for them, and how to get off their calling list.

Accordingly, robo-calls that surfaced during last month’s primary season targeting Sam Page, a candidate for lieutenant governor, and voters in Tower Grove’s 67th House District race were, it appears, against the law.

Can you really say “acting as the state’s Attorney General, and not as the Democratic nominee for governor” at this point?

Everything Jay Nixon does now until November is political, no matter what the media or Jay says.
