Obama-McCain go on attack — on healthcare and Chicago
The presidential campaigns of Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama have just launched new TV ads in Missouri and/or national cable.
Obama’s focus is on healthcare, and McCain’s plan to tax workers’ employer-provided coverage.
McCain attacks his Democratic rival over his Illinois ties, including Chicago’s Daley brothers, Rezko and Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Here’s the ads:

Good ad by Obama, although I wish he focused more on how McCain will tax your employer based contributions, resulting in a tax increase for many hardworking Missouri families. But this is a good issue to talk about.
McCain’s ad of course did not mention on policy, just character assassination and not even real good at that. But I am of course, viewing this from the eyes of someone who cares about issues and thus is voting for Obama. What do others say?
Now how could anyone argue that Fact Check isn’t bi-partisan?
FACT CHECK Shows:
Obama ad twists McCain’s words on health care “deregulation.”
AND ALSO SHOWS THE ACCURACY OF THIS SAME OBAMA AD, STATING:
The Obama-Biden ad ends by calling McCain’s plan “a prescription for disaster,” as those words, credited to the Boston Globe, flash on screen. Unlike the first quote cited in the ad, this one is accurate. It comes from a Sept. 21 Globe editorial that compared McCain’s and Obama’s health care plan, raising objections to McCain’s. Here’s the quote in context:
Globe editorial (Sept. 21): There is no comparable lab test, however, for the radical revision of healthcare that McCain is proposing. For all of his moderate positions on immigration and climate change, on healthcare he has endorsed a right-wing ideologue’s vision: destroy employer-based coverage and turn Americans over to the tender mercies of private nongroup insurers in an unregulated environment. It’s a prescription for disaster.
Obama and Biden may share that assessment of McCain’s plan, as their ad says. But the ad’s main criticism rests on distorting McCain’s words rather than evaluating an actual component of his health care proposal.
ThE false ad by McCain claiming Obama wanting to teach sex education to kindergardners is what really upsets me and, seeing McCain say it himself out of his mouth in a interview was ridiculous.

You and these Republican pudits are sick, find the Bill and read it!
FACK CHECK is correct and NOT that Rush Limbaugh/Sean Hannity type Republican pudit crap you posted!
I’dd like to launch my own attack on John McCain - - His claims about his experience and bipartisan legislative prowess are fraudulent. Why isn’t anyone discussing this?
There’s a great big myth, perpetuated by theGOP, John McCain and more recently, the heavily qulaified Sarah Palin, that Obama has a thin resume. Palin in her acceptance speech said Obama “had never authored a single major law in either Senate, and had only been a Senator for 147 days.” He’s been in the Senates for 11 years! I went on US Senate website and reviewed both candidates records. First, Government Ethics Reform (I believe when Gov Palin last spoke at a rally she said that McCain and she were “going to shake up Washington” and Obama hadn’t lifted a finger on Reform. Well, in 2007-08, McCain sponsored only TWO BILLS on ethics reform., whereas Obama authored/sponsored FIFTEEN:
McCAIN: McCain-Feingold - campaign finance reform
S.192 : A bill providing greater transparency with respect to lobbying activities, and for other purposes.
OBAMA;
Legislative Transparency & Accountability Act - comprehensive ethics & lobbying reform bill
Lobbying & Ethics Reform Act
Federal Funding Accountability & Transparency Act
Transparency & Integrity in Earmarks Act - to institute transparency and public disclosure of Earmarks
Google for Government - requiring all federal contracts to be posted online
Honest Leadership & Open Government Act
Transparency & Accountability in Military and Security Contracting Act
Obama-Feingold Bill - banning senators from receiving gifts & meals from lobbyists
Congressional Ethics Enforcement Commission Act - so the public to lodge complaints about ethics violations by members of Congress.
CLEANUP Act - providing public access to information on all aspects of a legislation
Closing the Foreign Lobbying Loophole Act,
Kerry-Obama Fair Share Act
Ellsworth-Obama Contracting & Accountability Act - preventing tax avoidance by federal cobntractors
Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Act (S.453),
Shareholder Vote on Executive Compensation Act of 2007
On Bipartisanship, McCain s stated ““I’ve worked with members of both parties to fix problems that need to be fixed. That’s how I will govern as President. I will reach out my hand to anyone to help me get this country moving again. I have that record and the scars to prove it. Senator Obama does not.” John McCain is seriously delusional, in 2007-08 McCain sponsored TWO BIPARTISAN BILLS, whereas Obama authored/sponsored TWENTY-TWO – I don’t have enough space to fit them all in, but you’ll find the rest on http://obama.senate.gov.
MCCAIN: S.83 : A bill to provide increased rail transportation security with Sen Biden
S.519 : A bill to modernize and expand the reporting requirements relating to child pornography, with a bi-partisan group of senators
OBAMA:
Lugar-Obama Bill with Sen Richard Lugar (R-IN) - to keep nuclear weapons out of terrorists’ hands
Darfur Peace and Accountability Act with Sen Sam Brownback (R-KS)
Global Poverty Act with Sen. Chuck Hagel (R
Climate Stewardship & Innovation Act with Sen John McCain (R-AZ)
Illinois Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Law
Americans with Disabilities Restoration Act with Senator O Hatch (R.UT)
Mercury Market Minimization Act (S.906) with Sen Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Levin-Coleman-Obama Stop Tax Haven Abuse Act with Sen Coleman (R-MN)
Strengthening Transparency and Accountability in Federal Spending Act of 2008 with Sen Coburn (R-OK)
Enhancing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education Act of 2008 with Rep Ehlers (R-MI)
Incorporation Transparency and Law Enforcement Assistance Act with Sen Coleman (R-Minn)
Harkin-Hagel-Obama Armed Forces Suicide Prevention Act, with Sen Hagel (R-NE)
Lead Free Toys Act with Sen
Fair Pay Restoration Act with 14 Bi-partisan Senators
Minority Health and Health Disparity Elimination Act, with Sen Cochran (R-MIS)
The Ethanol Education and Expansion Act of 2007 with Sen Bond (R-Miss)
Veterans’ Mental Health Outreach and Access Act, with Sen Domenici (R-NM)
the Climate Change Education Act, with Sen Snowe (R-ME)
Military and Veterans Traumatic Brain Injury Treatment Act with Sen Warner (R-VA), and SenGraham (R-SC),
Fuel Economy Reform Act with a Bi-partisan group of senators
American Fuels Act of 2007 with Lugar (R-IN)
BioFuels Security Act with a group of Bi-partisan senators
Hands down, Obama is the better candidate for the presidency - McCain truly is an old fraud.
Annemarie, you are a LIAR. McCain sponsored the following ethics related bills during the current session: S. 192, S. 32, S. 463, S. 478. He also proposed ethics related amendments: S.AMDTs.19, 28, and 29 to S.1, S.AMDTs.650 and 651 to H.R.1591, and S.AMDT.2974 to H.R.1585.
Nobody in Washington has worked harder to promote ethics and transparency in government than John McCain. And mind you, McCain sponsored all of these ethics things out of a total of just 38 bills. Obama, on the other hand, signed onto 130 bills. He has never been a leader on the ethics issue. But hey, he signed onto a bunch of stuff, so that means he’s “doing something.” What a fraud!
Well, all things being equal, I’d have to suspect that the guy with 26 years in the Senate has more of an ethics problem than the new guy. This country is sick with incumbancy and career politicians. This middle class white guy is voting for Obama and so are most of my neighbors.
