After exchanging barbs about anonymous robo-calls yesterday, Sam Page, the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor, has challenged his rival, incumbent Republican Peter Kinder, to debate.Sam Page

Page says that he has already agreed to a pair of debates sponsored by Webster University and the League of Women Voters. According to Page, Kinder has not responded to either group to set a date.

“I challenge my opponent to four issue-specific debates in the next 60 days,” Page said in a statement.

As my colleague Tony Messenger alluded to an earlier post about the governor’s race,  the debate challenge is an election season ritual that does not necessarily result in a face-to-face meeting.

We’ll what happens in the lieutenant governor’s contest.

Page wins in a walk. Won’t even be close and Kinder knows it.
