Anti-war groups to hold pre-debate rally in nearby park
Several anti-war groups — including Instead of War, Veterans for Peace, and CODEPINK — are planning to hold a rally at 5 p.m. Wednesday to “Demand Substance, Not Just the Same Song and Dance” during the vice presidential debate on Thursday at Washington University between Republican Sarah Palin and Democrat Joe Biden.
The groups opted not to gather in the protest area set aside at Wash U because, organizers said, few people or press would see them.
Instead, they are planning to gather at the west end of Northmoor Park situated at Big Bend and Forsyth.
“St. Louis Women (and others) for Obama/Biden will collect with our signs at the east end of Northmoor Park,” the groups said in a release. “We hope to march along with IOW and the vets and the pinks (attached is their flyer) toward the debate site.”

I hope the Code Pink ladies don’t cross the Innerbelt into Ladue, I think there is a municipal ordinance in Ladue that you have to wear green with pink.
So McCain says to Obama in the debate: “You just don’t say that out loud.” when Obama says we should take out AlQaeda leadership if they find them in Pakistan. And now we find out that McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin has said the same thing out loud, that bombing targets in Pakistan is OK. I guess that’s why we never heard her response to the debate- she wasn’t even watching it!
D. Walker — mlgb,
Let’s hope the Dear Leader’s Stormtruthers Chorus doesn’t appear.

Hey, BobZZzzz! I thought you’d pop in and we need to clear something up: I don’t mean to beat a dead horse here, but I’m not Dwalker, you have misquoted my previous posts, and gave me credit for other people’s ideas. With your political slant, you shouldn’t be so surprised to learn that there’s more than one person who can’t agree with you. Just get your facts straight. But if you keep it up, you’ll just end up getting the cyber cold-shoulder from me and our fun will come to an abrupt end.
Dear Leader’s Stormtruther — mlgb,
Were you aware the Dear Leader’s running mate had his own Bosnia sniper fire incident?

What a surprise that Bob Z. offers a link to fox news. You are both inane and predictable. What a combo. mlgb and D. Walker are not the same person unless he has multiple personality disorder and one of them doesn’t know how to spell and punctuate and is given to fits of RANDOM CAPITALIZATION.
Sorry if I come across as inane to you Penelope. That BobZ character has me stooping to his level. My apologies. I’d like to stick to the topic: I hope the turnout at this rally is huge. I hope the republican single-issue voters have a crisis of conscience in the poll booth and start to recognize the hipocracy of their “holier than thou” philosophy.
I meant Bob Z. is both inane and predictable. You are one of my faves, mlgb.
The headline of this article is misleading. The coalition of groups, Veterans for Peace, Instead of War and CODEPINK are not holding a Pro-Obama rally. All of our groups are focused on issues and not specific politicians. The rally is being held to highlight the lack of focus on real issues that face our communities, particurlarly in regards to the war. This is most likely a result of the St. Louis Women for Obama/Biden’s press release. We believe in the right to free speech, so we welcome those who wish to march with us. However, our message is definitely highlighting the lack of access to the debates of issues that are being ignored in the national spotlight. I would encourage everyone to check out our website: http://www.insteadofwar.org Both tickets, McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden, continue to support massive funding legislation to continue the war and their foreign policies do not bring our troops home.
Woah, I’m confident that Instead of War, Vets for Peace, and CODEPINK should not be listed as “Pro-Obama-Biden Groups.” Nor are they anti-O-B groups, though. Anti-War, Peace. and Justice advocates of every political stripe and color are welcome at this event.
This is a rally to attempt to shed light upon issues that will not be discussed at the debate. Like why our government can find money to pay for a needless war but not find money to help with low-income housing or healthcare, etc…
And, technically, I believe that Northmoor park is in U. City. and it’s south of Forsyth on Northmoor.
