Protester, not Palin, shows up at Schlafly reception
ST. PAUL –Until late Monday night, Phyllis Schlafly remained optimistic that the woman she’d selected months ago to headline a reception today for the Republican National Coalition for Life would appear.
But then Schlafly got the call: Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin could no longer make the event. She had to work on her speech Wednesday night, after she’s been formally nominated as the GOP choice for vice president.
Although disappointed, Schlafly arranged for commentator Laura Ingraham to step in as speaker.
Palin, in absentia, still got the coalition’s honor — the 2008 LIFE of the party award.
But the reception wasn’t uneventful.
Right after Schlafly spoke, a woman jumped on stage and shouted, “Be pro-life! Stop the war in Iraq.”
Security men quickly snagged her, but the woman continued to shout “Be pro-life! Stop the war in Iraq” as she was escorted away. (No word on if she was arrested.)
Schlafly drew laughter when she told the crowd, “You know your event is important when you attract protesters.”

Laura Ingram would be one of the best and most honorable speakers one could get on any podium. The lame brained protester was both rude and wrong, something pandemic in their ranks. This pinhead should have been forced to listen to Laura over and over until the mist cleared from this kooks eyes and they finally got it. Protect America, don’t hate it.
Laura Ingraham, not Ingram. I listen to her every day just to see, actually hear, what she is going off on. All too often, I am either screaming at the radio in my car, or changing the channel. She can be hilarious from time to time.
How ironic that for months Rush Limbaugh encouraged mass riots, civic turmoil and violent protests outside the DNC in Denver and it never happened….The Huffington Press now estimates over 50,000 protesters outside the RNC in St. Paul….It’s not ironic, it’s fitting and deserving.
I would like to hear the message Sarah left Phyllis on her answering machine….
“Philly, this is Sarah. You know that gig we talked about earlier..about me talking to the coalition about family life and personal responsibility…Well, I can’t make it. I have to find a 24 hour nanny for my five month old, talk to the other children about daddy’s new role, and arrange a marriage for my expectant daughter….Chow Baby, hang loose and don’t let your hair down”.
I don’t see what the so-called protester was protesting. Sounds like the protester is the only one that fully understands the pro-life moniker. The others in attendance just don’t get it or they are true Republicans and profiting from the war. There just isn’t enough of them profiting from abortion to change the parties stance!
Schlafly is an old, tired out of touch right wing wacko. Retire already.
