Earlier this month, more than a dozen prominent Republican women — including Cape Girardeau Congresswoman Jo Ann Emersonwere tapped for a “truth squad” to deflate rumors surrounding veep nominee Sarah Palin.

Now, the Barack Obama has countered with a truth team of its own –  arguing that Republican nominee John McCain is distorting the Democrat’s view on taxes.

“John McCain continues to insist that the fundamentals of the economy are strong but the 19,200 Missourians who have lost their jobs this year would strongly disagree,” said Missouri State Auditor Susan Montee, the vocal Obama supporter who will lead the new group.  “We simply cannot afford four more years of this in Missouri.”

In addition to Montee, other members of the “Missouri Tax Truth Squad” include Clint Zweifel, the Democratic nominee for state treasurer, Connie Hendren, the Boone County public administrator, and Darlene Davis, former President of the St. Louis Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants.

Claire is a truth teller extraordinaire!

If Charles Schumer were a woman, he’d be just like Claire.

Good to see Zweifel take on the role. He’s very knowledgeable about financial issues, and will make an excellent State Treasurer.

Congressional Quarterly may wish to quibble over the counter-message chosen by Senator McCaskill, but the bottom line is that McCain/Palin are committed to taking away the rights of women to safely choose when and with whom to have children by undoing the fundamental protections to do so guaranteed by Roe v. Wade. We are dangerously close to an anti-choice majority on the Supreme Court, and you will quickly see it come to pass under a McCain/Palin administration.

How about a truth squad that talks about Missouri, and what we can do in our state to make OUR tax policy better. I’d like to see that from my elected officials taking action in my state–I’m convinced we can target unemployment through better tax policy right here, right now.

“…but the bottom line is…” That means Penelope is waving a white handkerchief, that she is unable/unwilling to respond to the issue and that she surrenders.

Again, let’s read what CQPolitics quotes Claire as saying:

“…McCaskill said, “they’re going to find out that this is a ticket that wants to put women in prison for having an abortion after they have been raped.”

Claire McCaskill — a disgrace to the citizenry of Missouri.

They are lying about more than democratic views on taxes, they are lying about their own records. Just saw a brand new ad for McCain/Palin claiming that he has reformed Washington. Oh yeah, I hardly recognize it. Great job! And of course, there is the lie that Palin stopped the bridge to nowhere. No wonder she wanted rape victims in Wasilla to pay for their own rape test kits. She has personal experience saying one thing at first and then changing the game at the last minute, and with her view on women’s rights, that’s enough to switch the blame. Another whopper: Sarah Palin, having already had 4 children, gets on an airplane with a ruptured amniotic sac (that has already been leaking for some time) and embarks on an 8 hour flight.

I guess Montee didn’t realize that Dems controlled Congress the past two years. And the Enron mess happened happened on the Clinton watch, with the Congress controlled by Republicans?

My point? I stubbed my toe this morning. I blame Bush. The blame Bush and Republicans for everthing is stupid, just as let’s-blame-Clinton-and-Dems-for-everthing bad is stupid too.

A dog peeing on a fire hydrant tells more truth than politicians.

I still would like a Democrat here explain why taxing the wealthy even more will be good for this economy. Explain to me why taking money away from those that own the businesses and employ people is a good thing? I would also argue that Obama’s plan does not actually cut the incomes for the middle class. If he is going to push to have businesses pay more in social security and payroll taxes, won’t that make businesses have a harder time meeting their bottom lines? If they can’t do that, they either raise prices or lay off workers…thus hurting the worker. Also, raising the minimum wage will raise everyone’s wages…which will mean that prices will go up..which will bring everyone back to square one.

Please, Democrats, explain how that will be good for our economy!

I meant to say “will actually hurt the middle class”..not “help cut the incomes of the middle class”

McCaskill’s comment was disgraceful. And the Obama campaign stands behind it. If they think that scare mongering about abortion and transparent lies is the way to win … go for it!
