Trout wins recount in 15th state Senate district
Democrat James Trout of Webster Groves remained in the lead following St. Louis County’s recount of his narrow Aug. 5 primary victory over Steve Eagleton for their party’s nomination in the state Senate’s 15th district.
The count’s result: Trout gained an additional vote. The final official tally gave 5,161 votes to Trout, and 5,125 to Eagleton.
“I’m honored to be the nominee for state Senate, and I look forward to Steve’s support,” Trout said in a statement Tuesday night. ”He and his volunteers worked hard, and I look forward to their help in the final leg of this important campaign.”
Trout’s new campaign manager is Sean Barry, who oversaw Democrat Steve Brown’s successful primary bid in the 73rd district state representative contest.
Trout now faces Republican Eric Schmitt of Glendale in November. The seat currently is held by state Senate President Pro Tem Michael Gibbons, R-Kirkwood, who is running for Missouri attorney general.

Hhmm…wonder if Sean will spend $355,000 to elect Trout? That’s how much Steve Brown spent to win his race. I can’t believe this paper doesn’t have the guts to report with full disclosure.
