ST. PAUL –Yours truly got closely acquainted with the GOP convention red carpet Wednesday night, as those in the aisle had to hunker down for the hour that Rudy Giuliani and then the star of the evening — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — commanded the stage.

The Missouri delegation, with its front and center seats, went wild with excitement — sometimes, on command from the informal floor leaders, who’d shout for louder cheers and when to take to the chairs.

The delegation had several favorite cheers:

ZERO — accusing Democratic nominee Barack Obama of no experience

DRILL BABY DRILL — a chant in favor of more drilling for oil.

COUNTRY FIRST — during speeches lauding Republican nominee John McCain’s record

USA, USA — whenever

Those delegates offering speedy praise included:

Retired Sen. John C. Danforth:

“I am enthusiastic about Palin. I think she was a terrific choice. She offers the total contrast between the insider and the outsider….A very clear contrast, domestically and in national security matters.”

Catherine Bleish, delegate from Kansas City: “If someone wasn’t going to vote for John McCain before, they will now.”

Keri Martensen, delegate from Kansas City (and VERY helpful in getting yours truly OFF the floor):

“Sarah Palin is what this country needs. What an example for working women.”

Jo, you conveniently forgot to mention that when Gov. Palin attacked the media for their obvious bias in favor of Obama, the audience began to chant “NBC” - and they knew it!

Centrist:

As Jo’s editor for many years, I doubt she ‘conveniently forgot’ to mention the NBC chant you reference. It’s a blog, not a comprehensive catalog of every utterance by the delegation.
Good entry, Jo. Funny!

The real motive for this madness over Sarah McCain is not what it appears.
There is a certain ilk, (those Texan oil-men) Bush/Cheney and their Republican sheep that has been behind Sarah Palin all along they pegged her long ago. Earmarks and all of those million of dollars from Washington filtered to her State, Alaska making her out to be a HERO in the eyes of Alaskans for extremely high ratings by the citizens of Alaska. Typical Republican long term scheming, there is always a motive to their madness.

They have McCain also in their pockets and he is not his own man or the maverick that he was once known for because he is now in their pockets in everyway. Even in his choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate. McCain has CHANGED. Funny how that can happen, Mrs. Cindy want to be first lady and McCain sold his soul to make that happen for her. Her investment in McCain and as his wife she hopes will now pay off.

Alaska is seen in the eyes of the Bush/Cheney oil-men the new Iraq because Iraq has not worked as planned, the new leadership has stabbed these oil hound dogs in their back after getting rid of Saddam for the sect who has replaced Saddam Hussein and now this new leadership is wanting to kick the U.S. out of Iraq with plans for them to benefit mainly from the oil and others as hired help. This is not what these oilmen counted on. It all has backfired on them and the U.S.

So now Alaska, these ones now have their eyes on and are why the “OIL-MEN REPUBLICAN SHEEP” in Washington are so anxious to lift the legislative ban on coastal exploration in the OCS and Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. ANWAR! President George W. Bush already lifted a 1990 executive order about two months ago prohibiting drilling.

CONNECT THE DOTS! ALASKA - SARAH PALIN – OIL….

The Republican ilk (oil-men) plans are to keep themselves set up pretty in Washington in our White House running this country and controlling any OIL that this country may have because of their own personal self interests. Same old, same old, nothing new!
